ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota track and field teams close out the outdoor portion of their 2015 season on Friday and Saturday, taking part in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, hosted by Macalester.

Women MIAC Outdoor Championships—A Year Ago2014 MIAC Outdoor Championships HomepageMEN: St. Thomas celebrated its third-straight conference title, and pushed their MIAC-leading total to 32 total outdoor championships. St. Thomas won the title with 172.5 total points over the course of the two-day championship to win an extremely close competition against the host school. St. Olaf contended for the title up until the last event with 159 points to finish second. Hamline and Saint John's both recorded triple digits with 110 and 108 points to finish third and fourth, respectively. With 66.5 points, Gustavus finished in fifth place followed by Bethel with 62 and Carleton with 57. In eighth place, Concordia racked in 52 points. Augsburg finished with 41.5, Macalester ended with 28.5 and Saint Mary's had 1.0 points to round out the final standings |
RecapWOMEN: St. completed a decade dominance with a thrilling performance the 2014 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. The Tommies captured their 10th-straight conference title, which is also the 30th in program history in the 33 years of the event. St. Thomas won a decisive victory with 187 total points, more than 70 points better than the next best team. In second place, Carleton finished strongly with 114 points. Concordia scored triple digits at 105.3 points, good enough for a third-place finish. Saint Benedict ranked fourth with 92.3 and Hamline not far behind scored 83 points. Bethel came in sixth with 61.5 followed by St. Olaf with 56.5 points scored. Gustavus and Macalester tied for eighth place with 51 points apiece. Augsburg was 10th with 25 and St. Catherine (17.3 points) and Saint Mary's (14.0) rounded out the final three spots |

Jovan Newsum (Glendate Heights, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinals during the opening day of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships in Northfield, Minn. Booker, making her third appearance in the conference championships, posted a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw—uncorking a toss of 45.77 meters — while Newsom made the most of his MIAC debut, finishing fifth in his heat in the 1,500 to earn a spot in the 12-man final with a qualifying time of 4:14.10 |
RecapDay 2: Katie Stolz (Forest Lake, Minn.) shaved 17 seconds off her previous school record in placing third—and earning all-conference honors in the process—in the steeplechase with a time of 11:17.80.
Abi Osborne (Winthrop, Minn.) made the most of her final collegiate track and field meet, as the senior just missed a top three finish and the all-conference honor that goes with it, placing fourth in the javelin with a throw of 37.90.
