HAM LAKE, Minn. — Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's golf coach
Greg Moore was very pleased with his Cardinals performance in their season-opening dual-meet loss to Macalester last Tuesday.
He was ecstatic over his team's play three days later at the Augsburg Invitational.
The Cardinals, coming off an impressive 317 total in their season-opener against Macalester, rifling an opening-round 322 on Friday, before adding a stellar 297 on Saturday to earn Saint Mary's an 13th-place finish in the 18-team event.
Brett Jackson (Edmonton, Alberta) led the way for the Cardinals, shooting a five-over-par 149 that included an opening-round 74 and a second-day 75.
Kyle Brodt (Roseville, Minn.) turned in the Cardinals' best round of the weekend, rebounding from an opening-day 84 with a three-under-par 69 for a 153 total.
Blake Westerberg (Red Wing, Minn.) chipped in a pair of 79s for a 158 total, while
David Iten (Fridley, Minn. / 85-74—159) and
Connor Brandt (Woodbury, Minn. / 90-81—171) rounded out the Cardinals lineup.
Saint Mary's is back in action next Friday and Saturday, traveling to Randall Oaks Country Club in West Dundee, Ill., to take part in the 36-hole Carthage Tim Kopka Invitational
