WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota track and field teams made the most of their final tune-up prior to next weekend's Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, as the Cardinals collected a pair of first-place finishes and 19 top-10 performances at Saturday's Winona State Warrior Challenge.
Morris Dennis and
David Kemper led the charge for the Cardinal men, as Dennis clocked a time of 48.10 to win the 400, while Kemper picked up his second straight win in the pole vault, clearing 4.28 meters in leading the squad to a third-place team finish.
Dennis also clocked a time of 22.53 to place sixth in the 200, while
James Davis pitched in a second in the 100 (11.19) and a seventh in the 200 (22.53).
Brandon Krogman raced to a time of 1:59.58 to place second in the 800, and
Joe Gardner finished third in the 110 hurdles (16.57) and a fourth in the 400 hurdles (63.17).
Ryan Buchmeier added a third in the triple jump (12.32m), while
Ross Kinderman (fourth in javelin, 43.36m),
Jared Wolt (fifth in 800, 2:04.27),
Sherman Moga (sixth in 1,500, 4:24.75), and
Jacob Hagen-Erickson (eighth in long jump, 6.32m) also recorded top-10 finishes.
Maria Missurelli collected a second-place effort in the pole vault with a mark of 3.38 meters, to pace the Cardinal women's sixth-place team effort while
Becca Dup recorded a trio of top-10 efforts—placing fifth in the 100 (12.91), seventh in the long jump (5.33m), and ninth in the 200 (26.76).
Kynzie Smedsrud and
Alicia Berkenes also collected top-10 showings for the Cardinal women, placing sixth (74.30) and eighth (2:30.00) in the 400 hurdles and 800, respectively.
