GALENA, Ill. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's golf team hits the links this Saturday and Sunday, heading to Eagle Ridge Resort for the 36-hole Midwest Region Classic, hosted by Benedictine (Ill.) University.

Saint Mary's at Midwest Region Classic—Their Last Appearance:
• September 25-26, 2015 * Galena, Ill.: Blake Westerberg (Red Wing, Minn.) finished what he started. The Cardinal senior grabbed the opening-day lead at the Midwest Region Classic, carding a school-record four-under-par 68 at The Courses of Lawsonia. And during Day 2, Westerberg made that lead stand up, shooting a second-day three-over 75—a round that included bogeys on four of his final five holes—to win medalist honors by one stroke | Recap

• The Cardinals are now off until Oct. 8-10, when they head to Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn., to take part in the 54-hole Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.

• David Iten (Plymouth, Minn.) and Kyle Brodt (Roseville, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinals at the Carthage Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament last weekend, shooting identical 80-72—152s. … The second-round one-over-par 72s were season-lows for both Iten and Brodt. … Blair Sanders (Lee's Summit, Mo.) was two shots back of Iten and Brodt, finishing with a 154 (79-75), while Hunter Rau (Rushford, Minn. / 79-78—157) and Brett Jackson (Edmonton, Alberta / 77-86—163) rounded out the Cardinal lineup. … The Cardinals' second-day 297 tied the single-day school record. … Sanders' second-day 75 was one shot off his collegiate best. … Sanders, who has not recorded a round higher than 79 this season, leads the team with a 76.6 scoring average, with Rau (77.0), Brodt (77.8) and Iten (78.8) close behind. … Sanders' second-round 78 during the second round of the Augsburg Invitational on Sept. 4 was highlighted by his first career hole-in-one. The freshman aced the 190-yard fourth hole at Majestic Oaks Golf Course, using a five-iron. …  With their win over Macalester on Sept. 1, the Cardinals snapped an eight-year Scots' winning streak in the annual MacMary Dual.
