JORDAN, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's golf team was good during the opening round of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships Saturday afternoon.

Saint Mary's was even better during Sunday's second round.

And the Cardinals saved their best for last—carding a season-low 300 during the third and final round to maintain its seventh-place positioning in the 54-hole event.

As good as the Cardinals were as a team, Tyler Dove (Hastings, Minn.) proved to be the man to beat individually, as the freshman recorded the low score of the day—a career-best three-under-par 69 that included six birdies and three bogeys.

St. Thomas claimed the team title, finishing with an 888 three-day score (283-306-299) for a six-shot win over runner-up Saint John's. Augsburg (2092-308-296—896), Gustavus (301-307-295—903), and Bethel (300-314-296—910) rounded out the top five, with Concordia (306-314-300—920) and Saint Mary's (319-311-300—930) taking the sixth and seventh spots, respectively.

The Cardinals' final-round 300 was just three strokes off the single-day school record, while the seventh-place team finish was their highest since placing fifth in 2008.

Hunter Rau (Plainview, Minn.) closed out his final MIAC Championships as the Cardinals' individual leader, shooting a final-round 75 to go with his back-to-back 77s in the first two days for a 229 54-hole total—and a 20th-place individual finish.

Kyle Brodt (Roseville, Minn.) posted his second straight six-over 78 Monday to finish at 232 (76-78-78), while Dove concluded his first conference championships at 234—rebounding from rounds of 84-81 with Monday's three-under 69. Brett Jackson (Edmonton, Alberta / 82-83-78—243) and Bryce Galewski (Winona, Minn. / 89-75-80—244) rounded out the Cardinals' lineup.

Augsburg's Brett Buckingham and Gustavus' Alec Aunan shared medalist honors at 219—Buckingham posted rounds of 71-76-72, while Aunan finished 72-74-73. Shane Sienko of St. Thomas placed third (69-77-74—220), followed by Matt Lutz of Saint John's (74-75-72—221) and Gustavus' Chris Captain (73-75-73—221).
