MENOMONIE, Wis. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota track and field teams continue their streaks of red-hot performances Saturday afternoon, as the Cardinals returned to UW-Stout for a second weekend in a row, taking part in the Warren Bowlus Invitational.
Maria Missurelli (Franklin, Wis.),
Becca Dup (Albert Lea, Minn.), and Brandon Krogman (Owatonna, Minn.) all had school record-setting meets for the Cardinals—Missurelli in the pole vault (3.40m), Dup in the triple jump (11.03m) , and Krogman in the 600 meter (1:23.06), while Austin O'Hare (Rushford, Minn.) also got into the record-setting mix, jumping from second all-time to first all-time in the 3,000 with a time of 8:43.45.
And if that wasn't impressive enough, the Cardinals also dominated in the 4x200 meter relay, with both the men's and women's team earning first-place finishes in the event. The women's team, made up of Hannah Crowe (Baraboo, Wis.), Dup,
Kynzie Smedsrud (Luverne, Minn.), and Alexis Floresca (Romeoville, Ill.), finished with a time of 1:49.98—nearly two seconds faster than their nearest competitors. The men's team, meanwhile, composed of Andrew Allemann (Fountain City, Wis.), Kyle Lichttenegger (De Pere, Wis.), Kody Michaels (Stoddard, Wis.), and Gordy Paulman (De Forrest, Wis) finished with a time of 1:33.69, placing them sixth all-time in program history.
Overall, the Cardinal men's and women's teams combined for five first-place finishes and eight other top-five performances.
Other notable performances on the track included: Lichttenegger, who placed fourth in the 60 (7.25) and fifth place in the 200 (22.98), and
Alicia Berkenes (Buffalo, Minn.), who finished fifth in the 600 (1:50.16) and fourth in the 4x400 meter relay (4:19.30), joining Carley Cronen (Kandiyohi, Minn.), Crowe, and Smedsrud.
On the field side of things, Desmond Steward (Milwaukee, Wis.) finished first in the triple jump with a leap of 13.21 meters, while Christian Beamer (Two Harbors, Minn.) placed second in the high jump with a height of 1.90 meters—placing him second all-time. Anthony Pasquesi (Elmwood Park, Ill.) finished fourth overall in the long jump (6.24m), and
Natalie King (Houston, Minn.) took fourth in the weight throw (14.67m).
The Cardinals hope to continue with their success as they travel to Decorah, IA for the Luther Alumni Duel.
