WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's soccer team returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday, as the Cardinals entertain Saint John's in a 3:30 p.m. matchup at Ochrymowycz Field.

• Wednesday's nonconference showdown against Carroll was the Cardinals third straight road game. Saint Mary's will play three of their next four contests on their home turf, beginning Saturday against Saint John's. … Wednesday's 1-1 tie against Carroll marked the fourth time in the last five games that the Cardinals have gone into overtime. Saint Mary's dropped a 1-0 double-overtime decision to Loras and a 2-1 OT heartbreaker vs. Augsburg, before beating Bethel 3-2 in overtime on Sept. 25. … Saint Mary's last five games have all been decided by one goal or less — along with the four overtime contests, the Cardinals dropped a 4-3 decision to UW-Superior last Sunday. … Saint Mary's three goals in last Sunday's 4-3 loss to UW-Superior were the most in a loss since the Cardinals netted three in a 4-3 overtime loss to St. Thomas on Sept. 12, 2012. … Charles Reit (Arcadia, Wis.) scored the Cardinals' lone goal in Wednesday's 1-1 tie with Carroll — it was his third tally of the season. … Josh Balsiger (Camas, Wis.) leads the team with four goals, one more than Reit, and two more than Lichttenegger, Robbie Sobczak (Cloquet, Minn.), and Eli Szymanski (La Crosse, Wis.). … The Cardinals have had 10 different players score goals this season. SJU also dropped a 1-0 decision to Augsburg on Sept. 25. … Saint John's had its season-opening six-game unbeaten streak (5-0-1) snapped with its 1-0 loss to Augsburg on Sept. 25. … Four of Saint John's nine games this season have gone into overtime — including each of their first three games of the season.
