WINONA, Minn. — It was a perfect start to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule for the Saint Mary's University men's hockey team in general — and for senior
Kyle Meeh (Fenton, Mo.) in particular.
Meeh showed off his offensive skills in helping the Cardinals to a conference-opening 3-2, 5-0 sweep of Concordia on the road last weekend.
And Monday afternoon, Meeh reaped the benefits of his stellar performance, being named the MIAC's Athlete of the Week, the league office announced.
The senior defenseman collected a pair of assists in Saint Mary's 3-2 win over the Cobbers last Friday — including a helper on
Tommy Stang's (Mendota Heights, Minn.) game-winner with one second remaining in overtime.
The following afternoon, Meeh was at it again, this time scoring twice in fueling Saint Mary's five-goal outburst in a 5-0 sweep-clinching victory.
Meeh has now scored two goals in a game twice in his collegiate career, and owns seven multiple-assist games.
The Cardinals (2-0-0 MIAC, 2-3-1 overall) are back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 26, entertaining Milwaukee School of Engineering in a 7 p.m. nonconference game at the Saint Mary's Ice Arena.
