MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University track and field teams were a bit jumpy Wednesday evening — and for coach Niels Anderson, that was a very good thing.

The Cardinal jumpers posted five Top 5 finishes at the University of Minnesota Twilight — led by Christian Beamer (Two Harbors, Minn.), who won the high jump with a leap of 1.97 meters.

Kyle Lichttenegger (De Pere, Wis.) added a third-place showing in the long jump with a leap of 6.33 meters, while Desmond Steward (Milwaukee, Wis.) was fourth in the triple jump, posting a mark of 13.27 meters.

And while their male counterparts were making waves across town, the Cardinal women jumpers were also in tip-top form, leading the Saint Mary's charge at the St. Thomas Tommie Twilight.

Sydney Klausler (Lakeville, Minn.) leaped her way to third in the long jump with a mark of 4.99 meters, while Rachel Ohde (Chetek, Wis.) cleared 1.56 meters to place fourth in the high jump.

Other top finishes for the Cardinal men at the U of M Twilight included: Noah Anderson (sixth, 200, 22.83), Jake Homan (North Mankato, Minn. / seventh, shot put, 12.10m), Ben Borash (Bowlus, Minn. / seventh, 800, 2:00.93), and Jordan Malikowski (Royalton, Minn. / 10th, steeplechase, 10:25.63).

At the Tommie Twilight, Klausler added a fifth in the 200 (26.23) to her third-place effort in the long jump, while also teaming with Kynzie Smedsrud, Hannah Crowe (Baraboo, Wis.), and Alica Schurrer (Forest Lake, Minn.) to place second in the 4 x 100 relay, stopping the clock in 51.31.

Smedsrud chipped in a fifth in the 400 hurdles (1:13.14), Schurrer added an eighth in the 200 (27.15), and Jordan Keeley (St. Peter, Minn.) delivered a ninth-place effort in the discus (35.70m).

The Cardinals are right back in action on Saturday, heading to St. Paul, Minn., to take part in Hamline's Meet of the Unsaintly.
