WINONA, Minn.  — The summer-season coaching honors keep piling up for Saint Mary's University women's soccer coach Neil Cassidy.

Just days after being named the North Conference Coach of the Year — after guiding Rochester's Med City Football Club to an 8-1-3 regular-season record — Cassidy was at it again, being selected as the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) Midwest Region XI Coach of the Year.

Each Region XI includes one head coach, three defenders, four midfielders, and three forwards. The Region XI winners automatically qualify as nominees for the 2019 NPSL National XI.

"I'm really pleased to have received this award," said Cassidy, who is in his second summer season as the Med City FC head coach. "The reality is that individuals don't typically get recognized in team sports unless the entire team they are part of is successful. This award is really recognition of a great coaching staff, dedicated front office and players who want to win and be the best they can be. I'm happy and honored to be one of the leaders of this great organization."

Med City FC is in its third season as a member of the NPSL and plays in the North Conference, which is one of three conferences in the league's Midwest Region. The North Conference consists of teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota. The NPSL is the country's top national amateur league, and includes more than 100 teams from coast to coast.
