HARTFORD, Wis. — Mother Nature was crowned champion of the second round of the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational Sunday, as poor weather conditions forced the cancelation of Day 2 of the 36-hole tournament.
Due to the cancelation, the tournament was shortened to one round, which was played Saturday.
Joe Abdo (Edina, Minn.) carded a one-over-par 73 — leaving the sophomore second individually — to lead the Saint Mary's University men's golf team to a seventh-place showing in the team standings.
Abdo finished second to Jordan Knutson of Carthage, who fired a two-under-par 70. Abdo was one of four golfers three shots back of Knutson, while five more are just two off the lead.
Edgewood won the tournament, posting a 379 for a one-shot win over Carthage. Concordia-Wis. is third (381), followed by St. Norbert (398), Wisconsin Lutheran (399), Carroll (402), and Saint Mary's (403).
Along with Abdo's one-over 73, the Cardinals also got a seven-over 79 from
Bryce Galewski (Winona, Minn.), while
Cooper Craiger (Des Moines, Iowa / 81),
Alex Allen (Monticello, Minn. / 85),
Blair Sanders (Kansas City, Mo. / 85), and
Jake Emeott (Chisago City, Minn. / 91) rounded out the Saint Mary's lineup.
The Cardinals are back in action next Sunday and Monday, heading to Geneva, Wis., for the 36-hole Milwaukee School of Engineering Invitational.
