LAKE GENEVA, Wis. —
Alex Allen (Monticello, Minn.) put together by far his best performance as a member of the Saint Mary's University men's golf team Monday afternoon, leading the Cardinals to a 13th place finish at the 16-team Milwaukee School of Engineering Invitational.
Allen posted a career-best two-over-par 74 — five shots better than his previous collegiate best — to finish the 36-hole event with a team-leading 153.
Blair Sanders (Kansas City, Mo.) also enjoyed a banner second round, missing equaling his career-best by one stroke in shooting a final-round 75 for a 156 36-hole total.
Cooper Craiger (Des Moines, Iowa) delivered a 78 Monday to finish at 157, while
Bryce Galewski's (Winona, Minn.) 81—159 rounded out the Cardinals' lineup.
Edgewood took home the team title with a 588 two-day total (296-292), with Concordia-WI (292-299—591), Carthage (299-296—595), University of Dubuque (301-296—597), and Marian (297-304—601 rounding out the top five. Sain tMary's posted rounds of 317 and 308 for its 13-place 625 total.
Dubuque's Garvin Paper won medalist honors, posting a one-under 142 — 71-71— en route to a one-shot win over Lakeland's Henry Wojtczak (71-72—143). Andrew Otto of Concordia-WI (74-70—144) was third, followed by Jackson Eversoll of Edgeoow d(72-74—146) and MSOE's Bryce Lindsley (74-72—146)
The Cardinals close out the fall portion of their schedule next weekend, taking part in the 54-hole Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, Minn. Opening-round action begins Saturday and runs through Monday
