GREEN BAY, Wis. — If the Saint Mary's University men's tennis team was feeling any ill effects from Friday's 6-3 loss to Lawrence the night before, the Cardinals certainly didn't show it against Ripon Saturday.
 
Saint Mary's lost just five games in the three doubles matches and were even more dominant in singles play — losing just 14 games in winning all six matches in straight sets — en route to a 9-0 nonconference win over the Red Hawks.
 
Brandon Kurilla (Hastings, Minn.) and Trevor Smiley (Minnetonka, Minn.) — who suffered an 8-7 (5) loss at No. 1 doubles on Friday, returned to their winning ways against the Red Hawks, rolling to an 8-1 win, while Robbie Sobczak (Cloquet, Minn.)/Gabe Graves (Littleton, Colo.), also 8-7 (5) hard-luck losers on Friday, cruised to an 8-0 win at No. 2. Josh Janssen (Green Bay, Wis.)/Jared Hippman (Bolingbrook, Ill.) completed the 3-0 doubles sweep with an 8-5 win at No. 3.
 
Janssen added a perfect 6-0, 6-0 showing at No. 5 singles, while Trevor Smiley and Graves dropped just one game in posting a pair of 6-0, 6-1 wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Sobczak (6-0, 6-2), Kurilla (6-2, 6-4), and Phil Kostecka (Pequot Lakes, Minn. / 6-1, 6-3) rounded out the Cardinal sweep.
 
The Cardinals (3-2 overall) close out their three-matches-in-three-days stretch on Sunday, returning home to the Winona Tennis Center for an 8 a.m. nonconference match against UW-Superior.
