The 11 saves also improved the junior’s NCAA-leading save percentage to .970.
• 1: Diego Rivera (Chicago, Ill.) scored his first goal of the season in the 15th minute to account for the Saint Mary’s men’s soccer team’s offense in last Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Augsburg. Rivera owns one goal and two assists this season — the same totals he closed out the 2020 season with.
• 1 x 2: The Saint Mary’s women’s soccer team beat UW-River Falls 2-1 in double overtime last Wednesday, thanks to a pair of collegiate firsts. Maya Wachter (Dubuque, Iowa) scored her first collegiate goal with 4:08 remaining in the second overtime, and Madison Mora (Honolulu, Hawaii) stopped all five shots she faced for her first collegiate shutout in the 1-0 victory.
• 1-0: Both of the SMU women’s soccer team’s games last week were decided by 1-0 decisions — Saint Mary’s beat UW-River Falls 1-0 in double overtime last Wednesday, before falling to Augsburg by the same score three days later. Saint Mary’s has now played four straight games with a 1-0 outcome and have played eight consecutive games decided by one goal or less.
• 3: Landon Pendleton (Mobile, Ala.) scored his third goal of the season in the Saint Mary’s men’s soccer team’s 3-2 loss to Ripon last Wednesday. Pendleton’s other two goals this season came against Martin Luther on Sept. 6.
• 5: Genesis Capacio (Las Vegas, Nev.) collected her team-leading fifth assist of the season, setting up Maya Wachter (Dubuque, Iowa) for the game-winning goal in the Cardinal women’s soccer team’s 1-0 double-overtime win over UW-River Falls last Wednesday.
• 6: Eli Szymanski (La Crosse, Wis.) scored his team-leading sixth goal in the Cardinal men’s soccer team’s 3-2 nonconference loss to Ripon last Wednesday.
• 6, 7: Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) and Izabella Pigorsch (La Crosse, Wis.) led the way for the Saint Mary’s volleyball team in its 3-0 loss to Hamline last Friday, recording seven and six kills, respectively.
• 7 x 4: Daniel Sessler (Brookfield, Ill.) made seven saves in the SMU men’s soccer team’s 2-1 loss at Augsburg last Saturday. It was the fourth time in 10 starts this season that the sophomore has posted a seven-save outing.
• 9 + 10: Larkin Clem (Elk River, Minn.) posted team highs in both assists (9) and digs (10) in the SMU volleyball team’s 3-0 loss to Hamline last Friday.
• 71: Daniel Sessler (Brookfield, Ill.) made 11 saves last week — four against Ripon last Wednesday and seven against Augsburg three days later. The 11 saves push the sophomore’s conference-leading save total this season to 71.
• 1991: Despite their 1-0 loss to Augsburg last Saturday, the Cardinal women’s soccer team maintained a share of the league lead in the conference standings. SMU, Augsburg, and St. Catherine are all tied for first at 4-1-1 with five MIAC games remaining. Saint Mary’s is looking for its first regular-season conference title since 1991.
