  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
• FOR THE RECORD: The Cardinals enter their nonconference series against St. Norbert coming off a 2-6-2 performance during the pandemic shortened 2020-21 season. In their last full season in 2019-20, SMU finished 10-14-3 overall, including a 6-10-2, fifth-place showing in the MIAC. The Cardinals beat St. Thomas (4-2) and dropped a 4-1 decision to Gustavus in the 2020 MIAC Tournament.
• FIT TO BE TIED: Saint Mary's tie with Concordia on Feb. 6 was the Cardinals' first 0-0 deadlock since battling St. Thomas to a scoreless draw on Nov. 15, 2014.
• HHA HONOREE: Delaney Wolf (Bismarck, N.D.) was named the recipient of the 2021 Hockey Humanitarian Award, become the first Cardinal in school history to win the prestigious award.
• GOAL-SCORING LEADERS: Anne Carmean (Spring Lake Park, Minn.) and Sarah O'Brien (Littleton, Colo.) each scored a team-leading two goals in 2020-21, with Amber Miller (Kasson, Minn.), Kennedy Kraus, Katie Devine (Glencoe, Ill.), Kaley Manglitz (Onalaska, Wis.), Jordan Modjeski (South Lyon, Mich.), and Avrey Simonson (Waupaca, Wis.) scoring the other seven.
• GIVING AN ASSIST: Manglitz closed out 2020-21 as the team-leader in assists with three, one more than both Delaney Calabrese (West Dundee, Ill.) and Katie Pierpont, while nine other Cardinals had one helper.
• POINT LEADERS: Along with her team-leading three assists, Manglitz also led the Cardinals with four points, followed by Carmean and O'Brien with three points each.
• COLLEGIATE FIRSTS: The Cardinals closed out the 2020-21 season boasting four players who scored their first collegiate goals — Carmean, O'Brien, Kennedy Kraus, and Devine.
• DOUBLING UP: Carmean scored both of her goals in 2020-21 in the Cardinals' 4-0 win over Saint Benedict on March 14 — it was SMU's lone multiple-goal game of the season.
• A RARE SHORTIE: Miller's shorthanded goal in the Cardinals' 4-1 loss to Bethel on March 6 was the Cardinals first since Natalie Ryan netted a shortie against St. Olaf on Feb. 16, 2018 — a span of 50 games.
• LEAGUE LEADER: Ary Ziakas (Palatine, Ill.) closed out the year boasting a 1.56 goals-against-average and a .952 save percentage. Her .952 save percentage was tops in the league, while her GAA was second. Ziakas' GAA and save percentage also rank her No. 2 in single-season program history.
• PUTTING UP ZEROS: Ziakas recorded a pair of shutouts in 2020-21, making 35 saves in a 0-0 tie against Concordia on Feb. 6, before stopping all 31 shots she faced against Saint Benedict on March 14.
• GETTING BETTER WITH TIME: Saint Mary's scored six of its 11 goals in the game's third period. The Cardinals scored just once in the game's opening 20 minutes and tallied four goals in the middle frame. On the flip side, SMU's opponents netted 10 of their 20 goals in the game's final 20-minute period.
• HIGH WATER MARK: Saint Mary's scored a season-high four goals in its 4-0 win over Saint Benedict on March 13.
ST. NORBERT GREEN KNIGHTS SCOUTING REPORT
• FOR THE RECORD: St. Norbert heads into this weekend's season-opening series against Saint Mary's having not played since the end of the 2019-20 season — having had their entire 2020-21 season canceled due to the pandemic. SNC closed out the 2019-20 campaign with an 8-19-0 overall record, including a 7-9-0 mark in NCHA play.
• TOUGH ENDING: The Green Knights closed out the 2019-20 season dropping its last three games by a combined score of 12-1 — SNC sandwiched shutout losses to Aurora (4-0) and Adrian (5-0) around a 4-1 setback against Adrian.
• OFFENSIVE LEADER: Eve Parker was the Green Knights' offensive leader, boasting team-highs in all three offensive categories in 2019-20. Parker scored 10 goals and added 10 assists for 20 points in 27 games.
• SUPPORTING CAST: Libbie Doney and Lisa Lenell were second to Parker in goals with five each, while Jordan Moore and Lauren Ambolt were second in assists with eight apiece. Doney, (11), Lenell (11), and Moore (11)
• BETWEEN THE PIPES: Anais Aurard appeared in 24 of the team's 27 games in goal, compiling a 2.85 goals-against-average and a .900 save percentage. Aurard finished the year with 558 saves and was in goal for all eight SNC wins. … Evi Johnson appeared in six games, posting a 3.68 GAA and an .882 save percentage.
• AS A TEAM: St. Norbert was outscored 85-41 in 2019-20 — including 30-9 in the second period. The Green Knights scored 19 of their 41 goals in the third period. SNC netted 12 power-play goals and owns a pair of shorthanded tallies.
• POWER OUTAGE: St. Norbert was shut out in 12 of its 19 losses in 2019-20, and was held to just one goal in five of the remaining seven setbacks.
