• 1-2-3: The Cardinal women’s hockey team scored single goals in each of the three periods in last Friday’s 3-2 win over Concordia.
• 1 + 1: Ryan Stoynich (Calgary, Alberta) had a goal and an assist in the Cardinal men’s hockey team’s 8-3 loss to Concordia last Friday. It was Stoynich’s second multiple-point game of the season.
• 2 x 1: Matt Hutton (Carmel, Ind.) and Trevor Paradise (Colorado Springs, Colo.) each had a goal and an assist in the Cardinal men’s hockey team’s 6-3 loss to Concordia last Saturday. The two-point game was the second of the season for Hutton and the first of Paradise’s collegiate career.
• 3: The Saint Mary’s women’s hockey team’s three goals in last Friday’s 3-2, conference-opening win over Concordia were all collegiate firsts. Sidney Polzin (Chippewa Falls, Wis.), Allie Urlaub (Burnsville, Minn.), and Morgan Leib (Farmington Heights, Mich.) all netted their first goals in a Cardinal uniform vs, the Cobbers last Friday.
• 3: All three of the Saint Mary’s women’s cross country runners posted career-best times at last Saturday’s season-ending NCAA North Regional. Amanda Tuvey (West St. Paul, Minn.) knocked 30 seconds off per best time as a Cardinal, touring the six-kilometer course in a team-best 24:46. Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis.) finished right on Tuvey’s heels with a time of 24:50 — more than a minute faster than her previous-best time of 25:57 — and Anna Swanson (Osceola, Wis.) also enjoyed a career day, crossing the finish line in 25:02, 25 seconds better than her previous career-best.
• 3 x 4: The Saint Mary’s hockey teams both scored three goals in each of their two games against Concordia last weekend. The Cardinal women netted a trio of goals twice in their 3-2 and 3-1 wins over the Cobbers, while the SMU men tallied three goals in their 8-3 and 6-3 losses to CC.
• 6: The Saint Mary’s men’s hockey team’s six goals in last weekend’s two MIAC games against Concordia came from six different players. Brady Lindauer (Cary, Ill.), Ryan Stoynich (Calgary, Alberta), and Kasyn Kruse (Luverne, Minn.) scored in last Friday’s 8-3 loss, while Trevor Paradise (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Andrew Froese (Traverse City, Mich.), and Matt Hutton (Carmel, Ind.) found the back of the net in SMU’s 6-3 loss the following afternoon.
• 6: Six of the 11 Cardinals who took the court last Tuesday for the SMU women’s basketball team against UW-Stevens Point were making their first collegiate appearances in a Saint Mary’s uniform. Goettelman led the “newcomers” charge, tossing in 10 points.
• 8: The Saint Mary’s and Concordia men’s hockey teams combined for eight second-period goals in last Friday’s 8-3 Cobber victory — including six goals in the final 6:16 of the period.
• 18: Brooklyn Paulson (Holmen, Wis.) scored a team-high 18 points in the Cardinal women’s basketball team’s 73-58 nonconference loss to UW-Stevens Point last Tuesday.
• 27:45: Quinn Steinbrecher (Holmen, Wis.) closed out his sophomore campaign touring the eight-kilometer course at last Saturday’s NCAA North Regional in 27:45 – shattering his previous personal best time of 28:05 set at the UW-La Crosse Jim Drews Invitational on Oct. 15.
• 34: Ary Ziakas (Palatine, Ill.) stopped a season-high 34 shots in the Cardinal women’s hockey team’s 3-2 win over Concordia last Friday in the teams’ MIAC opener at the Saint Mary’s Ice Arena.
• 44: Jordan Keeley (St. Peter, Minn.) stopped a career-high 44 shots in the Saint Mary’s women’s hockey team’s 3-1, sweep-clinching win over Concordia last Saturday.
