• 2: The Saint Mary’s men’s hockey team’s 4-1, 2-1 sweep of St. Olaf last weekend marked SMU’s first conference sweep since take two from Concordia (3-2, 5-0) on Nov. 15-16, 2019.
• 2 + 2 = 2: Nina Langley (Chaska, Minn.) and Kas Kingston (Black Diamond, Alberta) scored both goals in both of the Saint Mary’s women’s hockey team’s 2-1 wins over St. Olaf last weekend. Langley netted the game-winner last Saturday with less than three minutes remaining in regulation, while Kingston scored the GW goal 13 seconds into overtime in SMU’s second 2-1 win over the Oles the following afternoon.
• 2 x 3: Laudon Poellinger (La Crescent, Minn.) had a goal and an assist for his first collegiate multiple-point game, while Sam Hanson (Eau Claire, Wis.) and Tyson Liverance (Burford, Ontario) equaled their single-game career-high with two assists in the Saint Mary’s men’s hockey team’s 4-1 win over St. Olaf last Friday.
• 2 x 3: Kas Kingston (Black Diamond, Alberta) and Nina Langley (Chaska, Minn.) each scored their first goals in a Cardinal uniform in the SMU women’s hockey team’s 2-1 win over St. Olaf last Friday. The duo are the sixth and seventh players to score their first Saint Mary’s goals this season. Kingston also added an assist to her first career goal against the Oles en route to her first multiple-point game as a Cardinal.
• 3-0-0: With their 4-1 and 2-1 wins over St. Olaf last weekend, the Cardinal men’s hockey team improved to 3-0-0 when scoring first.
• 4: The Saint Mary’s hockey teams allowed just four goals in the teams’ four games against St. Olaf last weekend. The Cardinal women posted back-to-back 2-1 wins over the Oles, while the SMU men beat St. Olaf 4-1 and 2-1.
• 5: Along with his career-high 35 points, Raheem Anthony (Chicago, Ill.) also added 10 rebounds in the Cardinal men’s basketball team’s 68-66 win over St. Scholastica last Saturday en route to his first double-double of the season, and fifth of his collegiate career.
• 5: With their two 2-1 wins over St. Olaf last weekend, the Cardinal women’s hockey team has won five of their last six, with all five wins by two goals or less — including four one-goal victories.
• 6: The Cardinal men’s hockey team’s six goals in sweeping St. Olaf last weekend came from six different players. Bud Winter (St. Louis, Mo.), Laudon Poellinger (La Crescent, Minn.), Andrew Froese (Traverse City, Mich.), and Trevor Wilhelm (St. Louis, Mo.) all scored in last Friday’s 4-1 win, while Gabe Potyk (Lake Orion, Mich.) and Kellen Tharaldson (Wausau, Wis.) scored SMU’s two goals in its 2-1 win the following day.
• 6: With her 18-point effort in the Cardinal women’s basketball team’s 65-57 win over St. Scholastica, Brooklyn Paulson (Holmen, Wis.) has now led or shared the team lead in scoring in six of their seven games — including each of the last five.
• 6-0: Saint Mary’s four winter sports programs went 6-0 last weekend. The Cardinal hockey teams both picked up two wins over St. Olaf, while the basketball teams both dropped St. Scholastica.
• 12: Izzy Goettelman (Winona, Minn.) scored 12 points in the Cardinal women’s basketball team’s 69-66 loss to Saint Benedict last Wednesday. The 12-point effort was one-point shy of the freshman’s career-best.
• 12 x 3: The Saint Mary’s men’s basketball team knocked down a season-high 12 3-pointers in last Wednesday’s conference loss to Saint John’s. The 12 treys were just two shy of the single-game program record.
• 16: Brooklyn Paulson (Holmen, Wis.) poured in a team-high 16 points in the SMU women’s basketball team’s three-point, 69-66 loss to unbeaten Saint Benedict last Wednesday.
• 18 x 2: Jada Biermeier (Eau Claire, Wis.) and Brooklyn Paulson (Holmen, Wis.) each scored 18 points in leading the Cardinal women’s basketball team to a 65-57 win over St. Scholastica last Saturday in the first-ever conference meeting between the two teams.
• 23: Raheem Anthony’s (Chicago, Ill.) 23 points in the SMU men’s basketball team’s 73-63 loss to Saint John’s last Wednesday marked the first time this season the Cardinals had a player score 20 or more points in a game. It was also the eight time in his collegiate career than Anthony has eclipsed the 20-point barrier.
• 35: Raheem Anthony’s (Chicago, Ill.) career-high 35-point performance in the SMU men’s basketball team’s 68-66 win over St. Scholastica last Saturday accounted for more than half of the Cardinals’ 68 points — and was the team’s highest single-game performance since Eli Cave scored 35 against Martin Luther on Nov. 18, 2018. At one point in the second half, Anthony scored 10 consecutive points for the Cardinals, giving SMU a 64-55 lead. The junior would then break a 66-66 time with a layup with four seconds remaining to secure the victory.
• 67: The Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team finished with a season-high 67 field goal attempts in last Wednesday’s 69-66 loss to Saint Benedict.
