  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
Last Saturday's game at Concordia was the first road contest of the season for the Cardinals, who went 4-9-1 away from the Saint Mary's Ice Arena last season. … Ary Ziakas (Palatine, Ill.) stopped all 35 shots she faced against Concordia last Saturday in helping the Cardinals to the 0-0 overtime tie. … Last Saturday's tie with Concordia was the Cardinals' first 0-0 deadlock since battling St. Thomas to a scoreless draw on Nov. 15, 2014. … Ziakas — owner of two collegiate shutouts — has not allowed a goal this season, stopping all 52 shots she's faced in 95:37 of action between the pipes. … Ziakas recorded a career-high 54 saves in the Cardinals' 3-3 tie with No. 5 Hamline on Feb. 8, 2020. The 54 saves were 10 more than her previous career best — and the most by a Cardinal goalie since Ashley Corcoran stopped 56 Gustavus shots on Feb. 3, 2017. … The Cardinals head into Saturday's matchup against Hamline still searching for their first win of the season. Along with last Saturday's 0-0 tie with Concordia, Saint Mary's opened the season with a 3-1 loss to St. Scholastica. … Avrey Simonson (Waupaca, Wis.) picked up the Cardinals' lone goal against the Saints. The goal was the junior's second of her collegiate career. … With last Saturday's 0-0 tie against Concordia, 19 of the Cardinals' last 29 games have been decided by two goals or less. …The Cardinals locked up their second straight MIAC Tournament appearance a year ago — it also marked the 13th conference tournament showing in program history. … Saint Mary's 4-1 win over St. Thomas in the MIAC Tournament quarterfinal on Feb. 25 snapped the Cardinals' four-game losing streak against the Tommies — and ended a six-game postseason losing streak, dating back to a 3-1 win over Augsburg on March 1, 2005. … The Cardinals faced a team ranked in the USCHO.com Top 5 eight times last season — No. 4 Gustavus (L, 5-1; L, 5-1; T, 2-2), No. 5 Hamline (L, 6-1; T, 3-3), No. 3 Adrian (L, 3-2; L, 4-2), and No. 5 UW-River Falls (L, 4-1). … The Cardinals' 4-3 win over Concordia on Nov. 15, 2019 was the first collegiate coaching win for Cardinal HC Sarah Murray.
  HAMLINE PIPERS SCOUTING REPORT
Hamline has not played since Jan. 30 — when they beat Saint Benedict 3-1. Since then, HU has had one game postponed and two canceled. … The Pipers head into Saturday's conference showdown against Saint Mary's unbeaten in their first two games. … Saturday's game at Saint Mary's is the first of three straight road games for the Pipers, who are 12-2-0 on the road since the start of last season. … Hamline is coming off an 18-4-4 showing a year ago, including a 14-1-2 mark in conference play. HU was ousted from post-season play in the MIAC Tournament semifinals last season, falling to Augsburg 2-1 in overtime. … The Pipers had four players earn All-American honors last season, including graduated senior Bre Simon, a three-time First-Team selection, who closed out her time as a Piper as the all-time leader in goals (92), assists (93), and points (185). … The Pipers have scored a combined 10 goals in their first two games, led by Sophie Rausch with three, and Olivia Arkell and Emme Nelson with two each. … Molly Garin leads the team in assists with three, and is tied with Rausch for the team lead in points with four each. … Rausch and Arkell own HU's two game-winning goals this season. … Ava Bailey has compiled a 0.50 goals-against-average and a .964 save percentage in two starts in goal for the Pipers. … Bailey stopped 27 of the 28 shots she's faced through two games. … Hamline has scored six of its 10 goals this season in the third period. HU's opponents, meanwhile, have netted their lone goal in the game's final 20 minutes.
