  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
The Cardinals battled Saint Benedict to a 2-2 tie in their last action last Wednesday. The two teams combined for four goals in the final 16 minutes of the third period. … Tuesday's showdown against St. Thomas is the Cardinals' fourth home game in five contests this season. SMU's lone road game was a 0-0 deadlock against Concordia on Feb. 6. … Tuesday's matchup against St. Thomas marks the first meeting between the two teams since Saint Mary's ousted the Tommies from post-season play a year ago with a 4-1 MIAC Tournament victory. The win snapped the Cardinals' four-game losing streak against the Tommies — and ended a six-game postseason losing streak, dating back to a 3-1 win over Augsburg on March 1, 2005. … Katie Devine (Glencoe, Ill.) and Sarah O'Brien (Littleton, Colo.) — who each picked up assists on the Cardinals' lone goal against Hamline in their 2-1 loss to the Pipers on Feb. 13 — netted SMU's two goals in last Wednesday's 2-2 tie vs. Saint Benedict. … The goals by Devine and O'Brien against Saint Benedict last Wednesday were the first of their collegiate career. … Jordan Modjeski (South Lyon, Mich.) and Avrey Simonson (Waupaca, Wis.) own Saint Mary's other two goals this season. … Devin and O'Brien share the team lead in points (2) with Kaley Manglitz (Onalaska, Wis.), who also owns the team lead in assists with two. … Ary Ziakas (Palatine, Ill.), who opened the season with a shutout streak of 105:05 minutes, stopped 20 of the 22 shots she faced against Saint Benedict last Wednesday and heads into SMU's matchup against St. Thomas boasting a 1.10 goals-against-average and a .960 save percentage. … Ziakas has now stopped 95 of the 99 shots she's faced this season. … Ziakas' 35-save shutout in the Cardinals' 0-0 tie against Concordia on Feb. 6 was the second of her collegiate career. … Ziakas recorded a career-high 54 saves in the Cardinals' 3-3 tie with No. 5 Hamline on Feb. 8, 2020. The 54 saves were 10 more than her previous career best — and the most by a Cardinal goalie since Ashley Corcoran stopped 56 Gustavus shots on Feb. 3, 2017. … Saint Mary's has now played two overtime games in their first four contests — with both games ended in a tie. … Saint Mary's tie with Concordia on Feb. 6 was the Cardinals' first 0-0 deadlock since battling St. Thomas to a scoreless draw on Nov. 15, 2014. …  All four of the Cardinals' games this season have been decided by two goals or less. Eighteen of Saint Mary's 28 games since the start of last season have been decided by two goals or less. … Four of the seven goals the Cardinals have allowed this season have come in the third period. On the flip side, Saint Mary's has scored three of its four goals in the game's final 20 minutes. … The Cardinals locked up their second straight MIAC Tournament appearance a year ago — it also marked the 13th conference tournament showing in program history. … The Cardinals' 4-3 win over Concordia on Nov. 15, 2019 was the first collegiate coaching win for Cardinal HC Sarah Murray.
  ST. THOMAS TOMMIES SCOUTING REPORT
The Tommies enter Tuesday's game at Saint Mary's having won two straight and three of their first four games this season. … Tuesday's game at Saint Mary's is the Tommies' fifth game in 10 days. … St. Thomas scored the game's first four goals in last Saturday's 4-2 win over Bethel,  with four different players — Maddy Fiedler, Fiona Claugherty, Luci Bianchi, and Addy Hackley — scoring. … Alyssa Wallace leads the Tommies with four goals, two more than Fiedler, Bianchi, Anna Erickson, and Isabel Lippai. All told, 10 different players have scored at least once this season. … Fiedler boasts a team-leading four assists and also leads the team with six points. … Wallace, Bianchi, and Anna Solheim own UST's three game-winning goals. … Eryn Cooley and Kylie Watts have shared the goaltending duties this season. Cooley has compiled a 2.95 goals-against-average and .864 save percentage in 162:54 minutes, while Watts owns a 1.58 GAA and .923 save percentage in 75:59 minutes of action. … St. Thomas has outscored its first three opponents 18-10, including 9-4 in the third period. … UST has scored first in two of its four games — both wins — and is 3-0-0 when leading after two periods.
