ST. JOSEPH, Minn. — There was nothing easy about Saturday's Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match for the Saint Mary's University women's tennis team.
In fact, it took one of the Cardinals' best all-around performances of the season to dispatch of Saint Benedict 7-2 Saturday afternoon at the CSB Tennis Complex.
"This was a big win for the ladies," said Saint Mary's coach
Jeff Halberg. "Every single match was high-quality tennis. It was a tremendous win in chilly temperatures."
Saint Mary's jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles — thanks to 8-4 victories by
Colleen Lois (Green Bay, Wis.)/
Natalie Peterson (St. Cloud, Minn.) and
Kennedy Morgan (Green Bay, Wis.)/
Kailee Johnson (Rochester, Minn.) at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively — and picked up four singles wins to seal the win.
Lois, Morgan, and
Zoie Becker (St. James, Minn.) all delivered straight-set wins for the Cardinals, while Peterson and
