• 1: Evan Huemoeller (Owatonna, Minn.) recorded his first collegiate singles wins in the Cardinal men’s tennis team’s 5-4 loss to Northwestern last Friday, posting a come-from-behind 3-6, 6-2, 10-1 win at No. 2 singles.
• 1: Jack Arndt (Coon Rapids, Minn.) collected his first collegiate hit, a two-out double in the bottom of the seventh inning to break up a St. Thomas no-hitter during Game 2 of the Cardinal baseball teams’ doubleheader against the Tommies last Saturday.
• 2: Linnaea Wallis (Dresser, Wis.) recorded her second double-double of the season with 18 kills and 21 digs in the Cardinal volleyball team’s 3-2, conference-opening win over St. Catherine last Wednesday.
• 2-3: Paige Gudmundson (Plainview, Minn.) went 2-for-3 to account for two of the Saint Mary’s fastpitch softball team’s four hits in the second game of their conference-opening doubleheader against St. Thomas last Saturday. It was the third multiple-hit game of the season for Gudmundson.
• 3: It was a triple career night for Mandy Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) in the Cardinal volleyball team’s 3-2, conference-opening win over St. Catherine last Wednesday. Schmidt set career-highs in both assists (46) and digs (13) en route to her first career double-double.
• 3: Rachel Ohde (Chetek, Wis.), Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis.), and Anna Swanson (Osceola, Wis.) all picked up event victories for the Saint Mary’s women’s track and field team at last Friday’s Saint John’s Invitational. Ohde cleared 1.57 meters to claim the women’s high jump crown, while Gearin stopped the clock in 1:01.20 to win the 400, and Swanson uncorked a toss of 37.92 to win the javelin.
• 3: Justine Schultz (Winona, Minn.) collected three of the Cardinal fastpitch softball team’s seven hits in last Saturday’s conference-opening doubleheader against St. Thomas. Schultz is currently hitting .318 and leads the team with 14 hits.
• 4: Zach Drake (Westby, Wis.) scored four times in the Cardinal baseball team’s 12-10, Game 2 loss to Crown last Monday. Drake’s four runs scored were a single-game career-high and marked the first time since Joe Seegers against Rose-Hulman on March 1, 2018 that a Cardinal has scored four runs in a game.
• 4: Gabe Graves (Littleton, Colo.) and Reilly Fredell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) teamed for an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles in the Cardinal men’s tennis team’s 5-4 loss to Northwestern. The win was the fourth straight as a doubles pair of Graves and Fredell.
• 4:06.73: Jon Meaden (Rosemount, Minn.) clocked a time of 4:06.73 to win the 1,500 for the Saint Mary’s men’s track and field team at last Friday’s Saint John’s Invitational.
• 4-1: The Saint Mary’s men’s tennis team rallied from a 4-1 deficit in its nonconference match against Northwestern last Friday, pulling even at 4-4, before dropping a three-set marathon in falling to the Eagles 5-4.
• 5: The Cardinal women’s tennis team picked up its fifth home win of the season last Friday, rolling to an 8-1 nonconference win over Northwestern. All five of the Cardinals’ wins this season have come on their home courts.
• 5-7: Zach Drake (Westby, Wis.) had five hits in seven at-bats for the Saint Mary’s baseball team in last Monday’s doubleheader against Crown on Monday — including a perfect 3-for-3, four-run, 3-RBI effort in Game 2.
• 6: Trevor Smiley (Minnetonka, Minn.) extended his singles winning streak to six in a row last Friday in the Cardinal men’s tennis team’s 5-4 nonconference loss to Northwestern, recording a 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles to improve to 6-1 on the year.
• 6-0 x 2: Colleen Lois (Green Bay, Wis.) was untouchable at No. 1 singles in the Saint Mary’s women’s tennis team’s 8-1 win over Northwestern last Friday, posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory over the Eagles’ Mafee Rinta.
• 7: The Saint Mary’s men’s track and field team posted seven Top 5 performances at last Friday’s Saint John’s Invitational. Along with Jon Meaden’s (Rosemount, Minn.) win the 1,500, Sean Curran (Appleton, Wis.) delivered a third-place showing in the hammer throw (44.20m) and a fifth in the discus (39.21m), while Kyle Lichttenegger (De Pere, Wis.) was third in the javelin (44.20m), and Jacob Homan (North Mankato, Minn.) and Matt Boone (Mindoro, Wis.) posted fourth-place efforts in the shot put (13.28m) and 100 (11.04), respectively. The Cardinals’ 4x100 relay team also turned in a stellar showing, placing second with a time of 42.57.
• 8: Zoie Becker (St. James, Minn.) picked up her team-leading eighth singles win of the season in the Cardinal women’s tennis team’s 8-1 win over Northwestern last Saturday, posting a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles. With the win, Becker improved to 8-1 on the season.
• 8-1 x 3: The Saint Mary’s women’s tennis team rolled to an 8-1 win over Northwestern last Friday. It was the third 8-1 victory of the season for the Cardinals, who have also beaten Minnesota State-Mankato and Hamline by 8-1 counts.
• 10 x 2: The Saint Mary’s baseball team scored 10 runs in both of its nonconference games against Crown last Monday, beating the Storm 10-4 in the opener, before falling 12-10 in the nightcap.
• 11: The Cardinal baseball team scored in 11 of the 13 innings they batted in in last Monday’s nonconference split against Crown — including scoring at least one run in all six innings of their 10-4, Game 1 victory.
• 12: Along with the winning performances by Rachel Ohde (Chetek, Wis.), Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis.), and Anna Swanson (Osceola, Wis.) at the Saint John’s Invitational last Friday, the Cardinal women’s track and field team also posted nine other Top 5 performances. The Cardinals got a second-place leap of 5.20 meters in the long jump by Sydney Klausler (Lakeville, Minn.) and a third-place time of 5:11.07 from Amanda Tuvey (West St. Paul, Minn.) in the 1,500. Gearin and Samantha Kubes (New Prague, Minn.) locked up fourth-place finishes in the pole vault (3.10m) and shot put (10.95m), respectively, and Klausler (200, 27.57), Mirijana Ganley (Nisswa, Minn. / 400, 1:03.23), Bailey Joens (Osage, Iowa / javelin, 27.01m), and Lilly Maul (Madelia, Minn. / long jump, 4.41m) all delivered fifth-place efforts). The SMU 4x100 relay team also recorded a top-five showing, clocking a time of 41.04 to place third.
• 12-2: The Saint Mary’s volleyball team used a match-ending 12-2 run to erase an 8-3 deficit and lead the Cardinals to a 15-10 fifth-set win and a 3-2 victory in their MIAC opener against St. Catherine last Wednesday.
• 19: The Saint Mary’s track and field teams combined to post 19 Top-5 performances at the Saint John’s Invitational last Friday, including first-place showings by Jon Meaden (Rosemount, Minn.), Rachel Ohde (Chetek, Wis.), Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis.), and Anna Swanson (Osceola, Wis.).
• 20: Coral Anderson (Rogers, Minn.) delivered a career-high 20 kills in leading the Saint Mary’s volleyball team to a 3-2 win over St. Catherine in the teams’ MIAC-opener last Wednesday.
