  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
• FOR THE RECORD: The Cardinals enter this weekend's action sporting a 5-8 overall record. Saint Mary's dropped a 3-0 decision to Augsburg — which received votes in the latest AVCA Top 25 Poll — in its latest action on Wednesday.
• AGAINST THE AUGGIES: Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) recorded a team-high 10 kills, while Mandy Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) dished out 28 assists and DeJaye Baab (Wabasha, Minn.) recorded 10 digs against Augsburg Wednesday.
• OPENER TO REMEMBER: The Cardinals kicked off conference play in memorable fashion, getting 32 kills from McNally and rallying from a 2-1 deficit to beat Carleton 3-2 last Wednesday in Northfield, Minn. McNally's 32 kills against Carleton Wednesday were not only a career-high, but also a single-match, program record, breaking the previous mark of 31, set by Brandi Blattner on Oct. 21, 2016.
• CAREER PERFORMANCES: Elise Amerongen (Lake Elmo, Minn.) posted a career-best 13 kills in the Cardinals' 3-1 win over Westminster (Mo.) on Sept. 17. … Along with McNally's career-high 32 kills, Braidyn Ruetten (Holmen, Wis.) chipped in her best night as a Cardinal against Carleton last Wednesday, delivering 15 kills, while Larkin Clem (Elk River, Minn.) posted career-highs in both assists (30) and digs (10) en route to her first collegiate double-double. … Faith Van Erp (Sartell, Minn.) delivered a career-high 19 kills in the Cardinals' 3-2 loss to Marian last Saturday.
• DOUBLE-DOUBLES: McNally joined Clem in the double-double category against on Sept. 15, adding 12 digs to her record-setting 32 kills. … Schmidt picked up her third double-double of the season against Westminster (Mo.) on Sept. 17, collecting 35 assists and 12 digs. … McNally and Schmidt share the team lead with three double-doubles.
• ON THE ATTACK: McNally has recorded at least 10 kills in 10 of the team's 13 matches this season — including four matches of 20 of more kills — and enters this weekend's matches at the UW-Whitewater Invitational with a team-best 201 kills. Van Erp is second on the team with 94 kills, one more than Ruetten, while Amerongen owns 61 kills.
• GIVING AN ASSIST: Schmidt and Clem have shared the setting duties this season. Schmidt owns a team-leading 301 helpers, while Clem has tallied 135. … With her season-high 37 assists vs. Loras on Sept. 18 and 36 vs. Westminster (Mo.) the day before, Schmidt has now posted three matches with 30 or more assists, while recording at least 20 helpers in a match nine times.
• DIGGING IT: Baab has led the team in digs in 11 of SMU's 13 matches — including a season-high 25-dig effort in SMU's season-opening 3-1 win over Luther. Baab enters tournament play this weekend leading the team with 188 digs. With her 10 digs against Augsburg Wednesday, Baab pushed her career total to 1,336, ranking her sixth all-time, just 32 digs back of No. 5 Tara Rasmussen.
• SERVING UP ACES: Clem heads into the weekend as the team's "ace" server, owning a team-leading 19 aces, followed by Schmidt with 18, McNally and Grace Gilles (Apple Valley, Minn.) with 12, and Ruetten with 10.
• LEAGUE-LEADERS: McNally's 201 kills and 4.19 kills-per-set rank No. 1 in the MIAC, while Clem is second in aces-per-set (0.51).
• GOING.THE DISTANCE: The Cardinals' 3-2 win over Carleton on Sept. 15 was its second five-set match of the season. SMU was also extended to a fifth set in beating Marian 3-2 on Sept. 11. Saint Mary's is 2-5 in three-set matches, while going 2-2 in matches decided in four sets.
• ROAD WARRIORS: Wednesday's match at Augsburg was the 13th consecutive road match for the Cardinals, who will finally play their first home contest next Friday, when they host St. Scholastica in a 7 p.m. contest at the SMU Gym.
CONCORDIA (WIS.) FALCONS SCOUTING REPORT
• FOR THE RECORD: Concordia (Wis.) heads into the weekend boasting a 5-3 overall record and is sitting at 1-1 in NACC play. The Falcons are riding a two-match winning streak, having dispatched of both North Central (Ill.) and Alverno 3-0 in its last two matches.
• TOP-NOTCH OPPOSITION: The Falcons have already faced four nationally ranked teams through their first eight matches. CUW beat No. 15 Millikin 3-2 and No. 9 Transylvania, and fell to the No. 16 University of Chicago at the University of Chicago Invitational on Sept. 11-12, while falling to No. 11 UW-Whitewater on Sept. 18.
• ON THE ATTACK: CUW boasts three players who have recorded 60 or more kills in eight contests — Lauren Shroba (69), Maycee Karpfinger (67), and Sophia Collins (60).… Shroba posted a season-high 15 kills against Edgewood on Sept. 15, while Karpfinger delivered a season-best 13 kills against Millikin on Sept. 11 and Collins' also notched her season-high against Millikin, finishing with 13 kills.
• GIVING AN ASSIST: Makenzie Vertz has accounted for 161 of the team's 353 assists, with Sierra Lee and Erika Christiansen chipping in 73 and 68 helpers, respectively. … Vertz has recorded 10 or more assists in seven of the team's eight matches, including a season-high 33-assist performance against Millikin on Sept. 11.
• SERVING UP ACES: Karpfinger owns the team lead in service aces with 11, one more than both Jenna Chaussee and Annie Marie Olszowka. As a team, the Falcons have recorded 62 aces in eight matches.
• DIGGING IN: Madelyn Alton has amassed a team-leading 133 digs, followed by Chaussee with 71 and Vertz with 58. Alton has posted six matches of 10 digs or more, including five in which she's eclipsed the 20-dig mark.
• THIS AND THAT: With their 3-0 win over Alverno last Tuesday, the Falcons improved to 2-0 on their home court. CUW is still searching for its first "official" road win — the Falcons are 0-3 on the road and 3-0 in neutral-site contests. … Four of Concordia's five wins have been 3-0 sweeps — the lone exception, a 3-2 win over Millikin on Sept. 5. On the flip side, CUW has not been swept this season, dropping a pair of 3-1 decisions and falling to Edgewood 3-2.
 CARROLL PIONEERS SCOUTING REPORT
• FOR THE RECORD: The Pioneers head into the weekend sitting at 2-10 overall, including 0-2 in the CCIW. Carroll is in the midst of a two-match losing streak, having dropped a 3-2 decision to Wisconsin Lutheran last Saturday and a 3-0 decision to Elmhurst on Wednesday.
• ROUGH STRETCH: After opening the season with a 3-0 sweep of Ripon on Sept. 1, the Pioneers dropped eight straight, before getting back on the winning track with a 3-1 win over Benedictine on Sept. 18.
• ON THE ATTACK: Carroll heads into tournament play this weekend boasting a pair of players who have cracked the century mark in kills through 12 matches. Peyton Frost leads the Pioneers with 105 kills and Cathleen Flannery is close behind with 101, while Katie Jensen is just four kills shy of the 100-kill mark. … Frost has delivered 16 matches of 10 or more kills, including a season-best 16 kills vs. Benedictine on Sept. 18. Flannery, meanwhile, owns five matches with 10 or more kills and posted a season-high 15 against Wheaton (Ill.) on Sept. 16.
• GIVING AN ASSIST: Emily Schilesman and Isabela Valdez have shared the setting duties for the Pioneers, with Schliesman recording a team-leading 208 assists, followed closely by Valdez with 127. Schliesman dished out a season-best 44 assists against Centre on Sept. 4, it was one of three matches this season in which she has recorded 30 or more helpers.
• SERVING UP ACES: Carroll has a trio of players who have posted 10 or more service aces this season — Flannery owns the team lead with 12, followed by Kloe Longtin and Caitlin Laird with 11 each.
• DIGGING IN: Longtin boasts a team-high 178 digs — including a season-high 36-dig performance against Cetre on Sept. 4 — while Flannery is sitting second on the team with 117 digs and Laird is third with 99.
• THIS AND THAT: The Pioneers have dropped the opening set in 11 of their 12 matches this season — the lone exception, their 3-0, season-opening win over Ripon. … Six of Carroll's 10 losses this season have been 3-0 setbacks, while the Pioneers have also dropped one four-set match and fallen three times in five-set marathons.
UW-WHITEWATER WARHAWKS SCOUTING REPORT
• FOR THE RECORD: The Warhawks head into this weekend's home invitational sporting an 8-1 overall record, including a 1-1 mark in the WIAC. UW-Whitewater had its season-opening eight-match winning streak snapped on Wednesday, falling to No. 15 UW-Eau Claire 3-0 on the road.
• IN THE POLLS: UW-Whitewater climbed to No. 8 in the latest AVCA Top 25 Poll. … The Warhawks have already faced four teams that were ranked in the AVCA Top 25 at the time — beating No. 9 University of Chicago (3-2), No. 21 Bethel (3-1), No. 25 Concordia (Wis.) (3-1), and falling to No. 15 UW-Eau Claire.
• ON THE ATTACK: Jenna Weinfurt has been the offensive leader of the Warhawks, compiling a team-high 106 kills. Erin McNeil is second on the team with 69 kills, three more than Morgan Wordoll, and is hitting a team-best .316. … Weinfurt owns six matches with 10 or more kills, including a season-high 16-kill efforts twice.
• GIVING AN ASSIST: KellyAnn Sotiros and Paige Monssen have provided a lethal one-two punch from the setting position, with Sotiros amassing a team-leading 177 assists, followed by Monsen with 148. The duo have accounted for 325 of the team's 363 helpers through nine matches. … Sotiros put together a season-best 32-assist performance against the University of Chicago on Sept. 1 and has dished out at least 10 helpers in all nine matches this season.
• SERVING UP ACES: Sotiros and Jensen share the team lead with 16 service aces each, with Monssen sitting third on the team with 10 aces.
• DIGGING IN: UW-Whitewater boasts 493 digs through nine matches, and have 10 players with 10 or more digs — led by Jensen with 141 and Emma Aske with 69. … Jensen delivered a season-high 26-dig showing against the University of Chicago on Sept. 1 and owns four matches of at least 19 digs.
• THIS AND THAT: Five of UW-Whitewater's eight wins have been 3-0 sweeps. The Warhawks also own two four-set victories and one five-setter. … The Warhawks — who did not play a match during 2020 due to the pandemic — made their seventh consecutive appearance in the WIAC Tournament title match in 2019, falling to UW-Stevens Point 3-2. The Warhawks then fell to Otterbein (Ohio) 3-1 in the NCAA Regional Tournament. … UW-Whitewater, winners of 27 WIAC regular-season titles, have appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 27 of the last 28 seasons they have competed.
CARTHAGE FIREBIRDS SCOUTING REPORT
• FOR THE RECORD: The Firebirds, coming off a 3-0 win over Augustana (Ill.) on Wednesday, are entering the weekend sporting a 10-5 overall record  and a 1-1 mark in CCIW play. … With their win over Augustana on Wednesday, the Firebirds are now 3-1 in their last four matches.
• ON THE ATTACK: The Firebirds have been a kills machine this season, amassing 648 kills through 15 matches. Carthage boasts three players with more than 100 kills this season, led by Haley Horner's whopping 223 kills (4.13 kps). Liv Carel and Molly Skoda have also eclipsed the 100-kill barrier, owning 124 and 120 kills, respectively. … Horner has recorded 10 or more kills in 12 of the team's 15 matches — including 22 against Loras on Sept. 4 and a season-high 23 against UW-Platteville on Sept. 11 — while also posting three kill-dig double-doubles. 
• GIVING AN ASSIST: Jenna Millen has been the straw that stirs the Firebirds' drink, dishing out 414 assists (8.12 aps) in 15 matches. Millen has been held under 10 assists just once this season, and owns seven matches of 30 or more helpers — including 44 against Loras on Sept. 4 and a season-high 46 against UW-Platteville on Sept. 11.
• SERIVING UP ACES: Millen is the team-leader in aces with 30, but she is not along, as Carthage boasts six players with 10 or more service aces. Joining Millen are Horner (26), Skoda (24), Megan Dawrant (19), Nicole Aston (19), and Aubree Bucheger (16).
• DIGGING IN: Bucheger heads into the weekend as the Firebirds' leader in digs with 204. Horner (129(, Skoda (126), and Millen (108) have also broken the 100-dig barrier this season. … Bucheger delivered a season-high 30 digs in Carthage's 3-2 loss to Bethel on Sept. 10.
• THIS AND THAT: Heading into this weekend's matches at UW-Whitewater, the Firebirds are a perfect 6-0 in neutral-site matches. Carthage is 2-4 on its home court and 2-1 in traditional road contests. … Eight of Carthage's 10 wins this season have been decided in three sets. The Firebirds' other two wins were 3-1 decisions. On the flip side, three of the Firebirds' five losses have gone the maximum five sets. Carthage also owns one 3-0 loss and one 3-1 setback.
