MOORHEAD, Minn. – The last time
Daniel Sessler (Brookfield, Ill.) took the field, the Saint Mary's University junior equaled his career high with 12 saves in the Cardinal men's soccer team's 2-0 loss to seventh-ranked Gustavus last Wednesday.
Â
Sessler was back between the pipes on Saturday — and he was once again at his career best.
Â
For the second game in a row, Sessler did yet another picture-perfect impression of a brick wall, matching that career-best with 12 saves against the Cobbers.
Â
Unlike Wednesday, however, Sessler's effort this time around earned the Cardinals a key conference point, as Saint Mary's battled Concordia to a 0-0 stalemate.
Â
The Cobbers held the upper hand through the game's opening 45 minutes, outshooting the Cardinals 9-3 — including 4-1 in shots on goal.
Â
Concordia continued to hold the upper hand in the second half, pelting the Saint Mary's net with nine more shots.
Â
But nothing the Cobbers threw at the Cardinal net would get past Sessler — including a penalty kick by Trevin Vah in the 75th minute.
Â
The Cardinals (0-3-1 MIAC, 3-5-3 overall) are now off until next Saturday, when they welcome Augsburg to Ochrymowycz Field for a 3:30 p.m. conference matchup.
