WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's hockey team boasted nine players who were named Krampade/AHCA All-American Scholars by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA).

To qualify, a student-athlete must have attained a 3.75 GPA for each semester during the 2021-22 school year; must have appeared in 40 percent of the season's total games; and the school must be a paid member of the AHCA. The names of 706 Division II-III men are being released today — their Division II-III women counterparts will be announced in the coming weeks.

The nine Cardinals named All-American Scholars included Alex Cannon (South Bend, Ind.), Nick Latvala (Maple Grove, Minn.), Brady Lindauer (Cary, Ill.), Laudon Poellinger (La Crescent, Minn.), Gabe Potyk (Lake Orion, Mich.), A.J. Ruskowski (Traverse City, Mich.), Matt Sankner (Pennington, N.J.), Ryan Stoynich (Calgary, Alberta), and Warner Young (Newberry, Mich.).

The AHCA All-American Scholar accolades were the latest academic honors for the Cardinals, who had nine individuals — Lindauer, Stoynich, Nick Kiemel (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Noah Kiemel (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Kasyn Kruse (Luverne, Minn.), Trevor Paradise (Colorado Springs, Col)., Jack Hatton (Naperville, Ill.), Trevor Wilhelm (St. Louis, Mo.), and Parker Swanson (Eden Prairie, Minn.) — named to the Academic All-MIAC Team in late June.
