Anthony lands 2nd D3hoops.com honor

1/10/2023 8:53:00 AM

WINONA, Minn. – Anthony has been an unstoppable force for the Cardinal men's basketball team this season – and this past week was no exception. The senior guard averaged 25.3 ppg and 11.0 rpg in leading the Cardinal men's basketball team to wins over Finlandia, Hamline, and Saint John's.

And the jaw-dropping performance not only landed him the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor, but it also earned Anthony a second straight spot on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.

Anthony kicked off his week by pouring in 21 points in a lopsided win over Finlandia — including a mid-range jumper with less than six minutes remaining that pushed the senior over the 1,000 career-point mark.

And he wasn't finished, delivering 23 points and 15 rebounds in an 81-72 win over Hamline last Wednesday, and topped it off with a 32-point, 10-rebound showing in the Cardinals' week-ending 69-57 upset of league-leading Saint John's — a win that snapped Saint Mary's 29-game losing streak against the Johnnies.

Anthony and the Cardinals (3-4 MIAC, 7-5 overall) — winners of five straight — are back in conference play on Wednesday, when they welcome Bethel to the Saint Mary's Gym for a 7 p.m. showdown.
