WINONA, Minn. — It took
Brady Lindauer (Cary, Ill.) until the 16th game of the season to finally find the back of the net, but once the Saint Mary's University senior lit the lamp for the first time, the goals came in bunches.
Â
Much to the dismay of opposing coaches.
Â
The late-season offensive resurgence capped a stellar senior year for the Cardinal captain — and earned Lindauer All-MIAC honors when the league unveiled its men's hockey post-season awards Thursday afternoon.
Â
And Lindauer had some Cardinal company on the MIAC's post-season stage, as teammate
Warner Young (Newberry, Mich.) was named honorable-mention All-MIAC.
Â
After being held to just four assists through SMU's first 15 games, Lindauer found his Midas Touch, scoring twice — and adding two assists — for his first collegiate four-point game — in an 8-2 win over St. Olaf on Jan. 13.
Â
The senior forward would score five more times in SMU's final nine games — including his first career hat trick against regular-season champion St. Scholastica on Feb. 10, and closed out the year with single-season, career-high seven goals. Lindauer also added five assists in 16 conference games to finish the MIAC slate with a team-best 12 points, while adding two assists in SMU's nine nonconference games.
Â
Young, meanwhile, also enjoyed the majority of his offensive success in 2022-23 in MIAC play, finishing with five goals and six assists for 11 points in 15 MIAC appearances. Overall, Young played in 22 of SMU's 25 games, compiling six goals and eight assists for 14 points.
Â
Regular-season champion St. Scholastica dominated the MIAC's major awards, as forward Arkhip Ledenkov was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Year and goalie Jack Bostedt was named Defensive Player of the Year, while Dave Williams was selected Coach of the Year, after guiding the Saints to a 13-1-2 MIAC finish — that lone loss coming at the hands of the Cardinals. Concordia forward Joe Harguindeguy collected the conference's Rookie of the Year honors.
