SAINT MARY’S SCOUTING REPORT:
• FOR THE RECORD: The Cardinals head into their weekend matchups against Saint Benedict and UW-Stout sitting at 3-3-0 overall, including an 0-2-0 start to the conference schedule.
• LAST TIME OUT: Augsburg scored the game’s only goal with less than three minutes remaining in regulation, as the Auggies dealt Saint Mary’s a 1-0 conference setback last Saturday at Edor Nelson Field in Minneapolis, Minn.
• FAST STARTS: The Cardinals have scored a goal before the eight-minute mark in four of their first six games this season. Genesis Capacio (Las Vegas, Nev.) scored at 7:09 against UMN Morris on Sept. 1, Laura Ashe (Beaverton, Ore.) needed just 2:55 to put SMU out front against Wartburg on Sept. 3, Ella Lahart (Sherwood, Ore.) found the back of the net 7:52 into the first half against Beloit on Sept. 5, and Samantha Munson (Plain City, Utah) scored at 2:19 of the first half vs. Lawrence four days later.
• HOME ON THE ROAD: The Cardinals, who went 6-1-2 in their eight home games last season, have collected all three of their wins this season on the road. SMU is 3-1-0 in four road contests, while sitting at 0-2-0 at Ochrymowycz Field.
• THROWING UP ZEROS: Nineteen of Saint Mary’s last 25 games have been decided by shutout — including 12 of SMU’s last 14 wins. … All three of SMU’s victories this season have been by shutout — 6-0 over UMN Morris, and 1-0 over both Beloit and Lawrence.
• SPREADING THE WEALTH: Saint Mary’s nine goals this season have come from eight different players, led by Munson, who has netted a team-best two goals. Capacio, Lahart, Ashe, Lauryn Skoruppa (Littleton, Colo.), Brooklyn McKinney (Thornton, Colo.), Hannah Bradley (Portland, Ore.), and Dakota Leonard (Lincolnshire, Ill.) own SMU’s other seven goals.
• CAREER FIRSTS: Bradley netted her first collegiate goal in SMU’s 6-0 win over UMN Morris on Sept. 1, while Ashe’s first-half tally against Wartburg two days later was her first as a Cardinal. Saint Mary’s had five players record their first collegiate goals a year ago.
• CAREER FIRST II: Munson collected her first collegiate multiple-point game, scoring once and assisting on two others for a four-point effort in SMU’s 6-0 win over UMN Morris on Sept. 1.
• LENDING A HAND: Munson owns the team lead in assists with three, one more than Peyton Maier (Elk River, Minn.), while Lahart, Ashe, McKinney, Leonard, and Anna Warneke (Maple Grove, Minn.) have all collected one helper..
• POINT PRODUCER: Munson sits atop the team’s points race with five, followed by Ashe and Leonard with three, and McKinney, Bradley, Skoruppa, Lahart, and Capacio with two each…. Falkman closed out 2022 with a team-best 13 points (5 G, 3 A).
• BETWEEN THE PIPES: Anna Peckosh (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) has started five of the Cardinals’ first six games in goal, compiling a 1.11 goals-against-average and a .778 save percentage. McKenzie Munson (Plain City, Utah) owns SMU’s other start, a one-save shutout on Sept. 5, while Megan Nadal (Chino, Calif.) has made one save in 36:13 minutes of work. … Peckosh has made 17 saves in five games.
• GOALKEEPING FIRSTS: McKenzie Munson (Plain City, Utah) recorded her first collegiate win and first career shutout — in her first collegiate start, a 1-0 win over Beloit on Sept. 5. … Peckosh stopped a career-high eight shots in racking up career shutout No. 1 against UW-Stevens Point on Oct. 16, 2022. … Peckosh made her first collegiate start against UW-Stout on Oct. 5, 2022, stopping both Blue Devil shots she faced in 45:00 of play, while making her first appearance in a Cardinal uniform on Sept. 17, 2022, making three saves in 22 minutes of relief in SMU’s 3-0 loss to Saint Benedict. … Nadal made her first collegiate start on Sept. 21, 2022 against Luther, stopping seven first-half shots.
• CRUNCHING THE NUMBERS: With their three second-half goals against UMN Morris on Sept. 1, Saint Mary’s has now netted 18 of its last 22 goals in the second half. … Saint Mary’s has allowed just five goals in five games — four of which have come in the second half. … SMU has outshot its opponents 97-57, including 48-24 in shots on goal. … SMU’s six goals against the Cougars on Sept. 1 are the most since SMU poured in 11 goals against Martin Luther on Sept. 6, 2021.
SAINT BENEDICT SCOUTING REPORT:
• FOR THE RECORD: The Bennies head into their conference showdown at Saint Mary’s sitting at 3-3-0 overall, including a 1-1-0 mark through the first two games of the conference schedule.
• LAST TIME OUT: Saint Benedict picked up a pair of shutout wins last weekend in St. Joseph, Minn., blanking Hamline 2-0 for its first conference victory of the year last Saturday, before adding a 3-0 win over Wartburg the following afternoon.
• HOME SWEET HOME: After opening the season with four straight road games, CSB is in the midst of playing three of four contests on their home turf — the lone exception, Saturday’s matchup at Saint Mary’s. The Bennies are a perfect 2-0-0 at home, thanks to last weekend’s wins over Hamline and Wartburg.
• NAILBITERS: Saint Benedict kicked off the season with four consecutive games decided by one goal — the Bennies beat UW-Stevens Point (2-1), while falling to #13 UW-La Crosse (1-0), UW-Eau Claire (3-2), and Macalester (2-1).
• SHARING THE WEALTH: Saint Benedict’s 10 goals through six games have come from nine different players. Alli Voss is the only Bennie with two goals, while Ella Young, Sydney Burns, Grace Fitzgibbons, Erica Golenzer, Lana Krautkremer, Olivia Miller, Chloe Moore, and Avery Soli have all found the back of the net once.
• LENDING A HELPING HAND: Saint Benedict’s five assists this season have come from five different players — Voss, Young, Addison Stephani, Abby Willenbring, and Emma Young.
• POINT PRODUCTION: Voss sits atop the team’s points lead with five (2 G, 1 A). Young is second with three (1 G, 1 A) and Burns is third with two (1 G). No other Bennie has more than one point.
• BETWEEN THE PIPES: Annie Waters has started all six games, and has played all but eight minutes in goal for CSB this season, compiling a 1.01 goals-against-average and .750 save percentage. … Waters has stopped 18 of the 24 shots she’s faced and owns a pair of shutouts. … Waters stopped a season-high eight shots in CSB’s 1-0 loss to UW-La Crosse on Sept. 1.
• CRUNCHING THE NUMBERS: The Bennies have allowed just one goal in their three wins this season — blanking both Hamline (2-0) and Wartburg (3-0), while allowing a goal in a 2-1 win over UW-Stevens Point. … Saint Benedict holds an 83-58 advantage in shots, including a 40-27 edge in shots on goal. … CSB has scored nine of its 10 goals in the second half, while the Bennies’ opponents have scored three goals in the first half and four after the break. … Saint Benedict recorded season-highs in goals (3), assists (2), and points (8) in last Sunday’s 3-0 win over Wartburg, while tallying a season-high 26 shots against UW-Stevens Point on Sept. 3.
UW-STOUT SCOUTING REPORT:
• FOR THE RECORD: The Blue Devils head into their nonconference matchup against Saint Mary’s sitting at 3-2-2 overall.
• LAST TIME OUT: Lauren Chukel scored early in the second half, and Kristen Silenzi made eight saves, as the Blue Devils battled Bethel to a 1-1 tie in the teams’ nonconference game Thursday evening in Menomonie, Wis.
• FINALLY HOME: After playing their first six games on the road, Sunday’s matchup against Saint Mary’s is the second of back-to-back home games for the Blue Devils. UW-Stout takes an 0-0-1 home record into its showdown with the Cardinals, while sporting an 3-2-1 record away from Nelson Field.
• AGAINST THE MIAC: UW-Stout’s nonconference game against Saint Mary’s on Sunday marks the fifth of seven games against teams from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Blue Devils have already faced Macalester (L, 3-0), Concordia (W, 1-0), Augsburg (L, 1-0), and Bethel (T, 1-1), and still have St. Catherine and Saint Benedict on their slate.
• NAILBITERS: After opening the season with a 3-0 loss to Macalester and a 4-0 win over Nebraska Wesleyan, UW-Stout’s last five games have all been decided by one goal or less.
• SHE SHOOTS AND SCORES: UW-Stout’s nine goals this season have come from six different players, with Chukel leads the charge with three goals — including the Blue Devils’ lone tally against Bethel on Thursday — while Sami Moseng is sitting second with two goals. Emma Baisley, Lauren Boyd, Hannah Hagman, and Kayla Shoultz own UW-Stout’s other four goals.
• LENDING A HELPING HAND: Chukel, Kate Holst, and Melanie Wallisch have accounted for six of the team’s nine assists, with all three owning two helpers each. Chloe Butalla, Carly Kauffman, and Ava Tomas also have chipped in an assist this season.

• BETWEEN THE PIPES: Silenzi and Claire Olson have both seen time between the pipes for the Blue Devils, with Silenzi putting together a 1.09 goals-against-average and .829 save percentage in seven appearances (495:00 minutes) and Olson owning a 0.67 GAA and .909 save % in three games (134:31 minutes). … Silenzi has stopped 29 of the 35 shots she’s faced, while Olson has kicked out 10 of the 11 shots she’s faced. … Silenzi made a season-high eight saves in Thursday’s 1-1 tie against Bethel.
