Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Cardinals Secure the Win Against Oles

WINONA, Minn. – The Cardinal women's soccer team played in an afternoon game hosting the St. Olaf Oles in a head to head match up and secured the win, 2-0.

It was a slow start for both teams as it took them a while to get into a rhythm with the first shot on goal of the game came at the eighth minute from the Oles soaring right of the net. Neither team recorded a shot on goal until the 34th minute of the first half.

Lucky for the Cardinals, that single shot by Kaylen Pray found the back of the net, her first collegiate goal, to secure the lead and being the only shot on goal for the Cardinals all half.  Kaelyn Clasen had the assist with a well chipped ball ahead.

The second half was much more action packed as the Oles opened the half with a shot on goal and was saved by Anna Peckosh. Within a span of 10 minutes, the Cardinals tripled the amount of shots that they had in the first half.

A shot from Anna Warneke led to a Cardinals corner which led to Dakotas close shot that was miraculously saved and landing another corner kick for the Cardinals. Hannah Bradley knew to kick it to arguably the best head taking player in the conference, Leonard.

The second corner attempt found Leonard, who just barley missed the first shot, and nailed it to the back of the net off a header to extend the lead to two at the 70th minute.

The Cardinals packed it in the rest of the game as they went on to win over the Oles in a win that bumps them ahead by one in conference as they currently stand at second.

The Cardinals women's soccer team returns to action Saturday, Oct. 19th at 1:00 p.m. traveling to Duluth to take on the Saints.
