WINONA, Minn. -Â Tuesday night, the Cardinals hosted Macalester College as the regular season begins to wrap up and took down the Scots, 2-1. With today's win and results elsewhere in the conference, the Cardinals will get the opportunity to host a first round MIAC Playoff game! TIme and dates are to be determined.

The Cardinals came out hot with a shot by
Makayla Clow just 43 seconds in. They would keep the ball on Macalesters half the for most of the first 10 minutes, not budging at all.

They would continue to keep possession and lay the pressure on with another shot from Clow at 11 minutes, a shot by
Lauren Ashe at the 15th minute, and a shot by
Ella Lahart at the 18th minute.

At the 32
nd minute,
Dakota Leonard would take a shot of her own, marking the 8th shot by the Cardinals.

All the pressure would pay off soon after as Maya Wunchel would send a beautiful through pass to
Hannah Bradley. Fighting off two defenders, Bradley would keep possession and take a shot one on one with the goalkeeper, finding the back of the net scoring the first goal of the game. This would make the score 1-0 for the Cardinals with 10 minutes left in the half.

The Scots would try to answer with a shot of their own but it would be saved by
Anna Peckosh. The Cardinals would then take possession back and drain out the remaining time to go into the half up 1-0.

At the start of the half, the Scots went on the attack with the first shot, however the Cardinals quickly countered with a shot from
Lauryn Skoruppa at the 48th minute and a second shot from Skoruppa at the 50th.

At the 60th minute,
Macava Smith would have an opportunity and with a brilliant shot she would notch her first goal of her collegiate career, raising the lead to 2-0.

Meanwhile the Cardinals defenders wouldn't budge keeping the ball on Macalester's side and allowing three shots on the Cardinals goal all night, two on target.

The Cardinals would hold on for the remainder of the game and add to the win column, making their conference record 7-1-1 and their overall record 11-2-3.

The Cardinals will be home again on Saturday to play first in the conference Carlton for a one against two seeded match up and celebrate senior day for the Cardinals at 1 p.m.
