Cardinals Fall to Oles in Three

 
WINONA, Minn. - On Saturday, October 5th, conference play would continue for the Cardinals with a home game against the visiting St. Olaf Oles. Despite giving it their all, the Cardinals would fall to the Oles 3-0 and continue their conference losing streak.
 
Early into the first set, the Oles would take a 7-3 lead with no signs of slowing down. However a nice kill from Kali Olson would stop the momentum. The Oles would reach the 15 point mark first, leading the set 15-9. At the mid point of the set, Brenna Bruchert leads the Cardinals with three kills, and Olson behind her with two. Despite showing signs of life, the Oles would reach match point with the score 24-15, and would seal the set a couple rallies later 25-18
 
Set two would start out even, going to 4-5, and after a long rally, Bruchert would hit a nice cross shot to get the kill and tie the set 5-5. After back and forth, the Oles would build a four point lead to make the score 15-11. Olson leads the team with six kills, Bruchert with five, and Paige Klug behind her with four.
 
After a time out, the Cardinals would rally for three unanswered points, two of the three being service aces by Emma Rommes, however the Oles would fight back and build the lead back, making the set 20-14. The Oles would soon reach match point and seal the set two rally later, winning the set 25-15 and making the set series 2-0
 
Showing some fight, the Cardinals wouldn't back down to start the third set, starting the game 6-8 with the Oles in the lead. Olson would lead the charge for the Cardinals, being responsible for 4 of the 6 points.  A couple moments later, Bruchert would make the game 8-10, with her third kill of the set.
 
Despite the Cardinals best efforts, the Oles gap would continue to grow making the score 16-12. St. Olaf would show no signs of slowing down and make the score 20-12, not giving anything up.
 
With signs of life starting the form, the Oles would snuff it out to make the game 24-17, and two rallies later the Oles ended the set 25-18, and with it the game, making the set series 3-0
 
Leading the team in kills were Bruchert and Olson with 11. Rommes led the team in service aces with 3. Lindsey Rossow led the team in digs with 18. Devann Clemens garnered 24 assists with was the teams lead.

The Cardinals will travel to Minneaoplis on Friday to take on Augsburg University for another conference game.
