MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Cardinal women's soccer team traveled to their farthest opponent Saturday afternoon taking on Concordia College for their only game of the week. The Cardinals beat the Cobbers by one on the windy day in Moorhead.

The Concordia Cobbers had the first two attacks on the Cardinals as they had a shot on goal less than a minute into the game and earned the first corner kick at the seven-minute mark. From that moment on, neither team had any offensive attack.

The first attempt for the Cardinals came at the 31
st minute with a shot from
Hannah Bradley that was saved.

The Cardinals had a break away led by
Abby Newby who was fouled in the box and earned her team a penalty shot to take the lead.

Dakota Leonard broke the scoreless game landing the free shot to the left of the net taking a one goal lead in the game. This goal marked the first goal the Cobbers gave up at home all season.

The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead at the half.

The Cardinals wanted more as they came out of halftime getting a corner kick attempt a minute into the second half leading to a shot by
Samantha Munson ending up going wide.

Within the first ten minutes of the half, the Cardinals recorded double the amount of shots that they had in the first half.

The Cardinals packed it in attempt to keep the one goal lead. The Cobbers had three shots on goal to tie things up but were shutout by Cardinals goalie
Megan Nadal who recorded two saves.

The Cardinals took down the undefeated at home Cobbers with the lone goal in the first half improving to 3-1-1 in conference.

The Cardinals are back in action Wednesday, Oct. 9 for a 7 p.m game hosting a non-conference game versus UW-Stout.
