CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The men's soccer teams best start to a season, since 1983, had come to an end on the road. The Cardinals fell to Coe College 1-0 in a tight match Friday afternoon.

The ball seemed to stick in the Cardinals end in favor of the Kohawks in the first half. Coe had three corner kicks within the first 15 minutes testing
Daniel Sessler early resulting in two quick saves.

Coe struck first at the 18
th minute to take the first lead of the game.

The Cardinals were struggling to connect on the opposite end of the field as Coe's defense seemed to take away any chance of a threw ball. The best chance in the first half came from
Francesco Cardone at the seventh minute mark it was the only shot on goal compared to the Kohawk's six.

Starting off the second half, Cardinals
Cohan Hare had a chance at an assist from distance off a free kick with a good look from
Ryan Pavelka which resulted in a save.

The Cardinals began to apply pressure as another free kick from Hare at the 65
th minute led to a shot from Cardone resulting in two back-to-back corner kicks. Cardone took a free kick at the 76
th minute with another chance at a goal from the top of the box, the ball was just a little high.

An opportunity came from a
Brandt Konik header off a well crossed ball in at the 81
st, goal kick Kohawks. Five minutes remaining, the Cardinals began to speed things up as they saw their undefeated start slip away.

The Kohawks early goal in the game held off the Cardinals in a 0-1 loss.
