WINONA, Minn. – After a lightening delay, the Cardinals got the MIAC opener match up and running. The men's soccer team fell to Augsburg 2-4 Wednesday afternoon.

Coming out hot after the short delay in game, the Cardinals jumped ahead with a goal from
Cohan Hare at the eight and a half minute mark to take the one goal lead.

The Auggies fought back quick with two shot attempts, both saved by
Daniel Sessler. They found the back of the net at the 24
th minute to tie the match.

Immediately, the Auggies responded with another goal at the 27
th mark and struck another ball past Sessler at the 28
th minute mark.

The Cardinals found themselves down by two at the half recording two shots on goal compared to the Auggies 12.

Four shots on Sessler started the second half as the Auggies wanted more.

Caleb Gilbert had a solid first look at a shot at the 57
th minute, saved by the goalie. The Cardinals began to get some momentum as they were putting pressure on the Auggie defense.

The momentum led to a goal at the 73
rd minute for the Cardinals from
Diego Giles to draw the Cardinals within one.
CJ Tree had a chance to tie the game with a shot that was saved at the 75
th minute.

The Auggies stretched the lead after a shot bounced around and scored at the 76
th minute which grew the deficit to two.

Sessler ended the game with nine saves for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals return to action Saturday, Sept. 28
th slatted for a 3:30 p.m. start at Saint Johns.
