WINONA, Minn. – The Cardinals win the first game of a three-game week at home Wednesday against Gustavus. The Cardinals advance to 1-1 in conference play.

The Cardinals were putting the pressure on the Golden Gusties all half as they were dominating in every aspect of the game. The Cardinals had seven shot attempts with three corner kicks to the Gusties zero. Â

The pressure they applied led to the Cardinals first goal at the 10
th minute by
Lauryn Skoruppa as she helps the team take the first lead of the game, 1-0.

They didn't not stop as they obtained two back-to-back corners for another chance leading to an
Abby Newby shot that was saved.

McKenzie Munson had two early saves before the Golden Gusties knocked one in at the 57
th minute to tie things up.

The Cardinals were fouled well outside the box leading to a
Lauren Ashe free kick that was played well into the box and took a perfect bounce for freshman
Makayla Clow to get her foot on it to net her first career goal and the game winner at the 75
th minute.

The Cardinals had three more shots on goal helping them win the first game in conference play.

The team returns to action Saturday for a 1 p.m. start against Saint Benedict in St. Joseph.
