Multiple Cardinals Land First Place Finishes to Open the 2025 Season

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The 2025 Saint Mary's indoor track season kicked off today at St. Olaf with the Ole Opener. 
 
Men 
 
Kicking off the meet, Casen Fritz claimed first place in the men's weight throw with a mark of 15.37m, his personal best. Antonio Cisewski finished 10th in the long jump with a distance of 5.99 meters. 
 
Brady Johnson secured 6th place with a 12.00m triple jump, while Nathan Longfors took 7th with a jump of 11.85m. Aidan Gatz secured a 5th place finish in the men's pole vault at 3.85m.
In the running events, Ryan Cramer nailed a first place finish in the 60m sprint with a 7.10 time, his personal best as a Cardinal. Teammate Ben Kritsberg finished right behind him in second with a 7.13 time. Sean Smyth secured a fourth-place finish in the men's one mile with a time of 4:32.98.


Chris Bulwa nailed a first place finish in the men's 200m with a 22.44 time and teammate Oliver Adamson right behind him with a 23.21 time.
 
Grant Schneider and Isaiah Fitzgerald placed 9th and 11th for the Cardinals in the 3000m with a 9:18.02 pace and 9:19.99 pace.
 
Women
 
To open the meet, Morgan Wallendal and Anna Becker took first and second in the women's weight throw, recording personal indoor bests with distances of 14.95m and 14.57m, respectively. Wallendal also earned the top finisher in the women's shot put at 12.02. Sydney Jackson came in second behind her teammate with a distance of 11.50m.
 
Xara Gin finished 6th in the women's high jump with a clearance of 1.40m, while Hannah Strom took 10th with a height of 1.35m. Gin also earned a 6th place finish in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.00m.
 
Abbie Meyer earned a third place finish in the women's 1000m with a 3:36.37 pace. Mya Slavin placed 12th in the women's 300m with a pace of 10:45.55, a personal best.
 
In the women's 60m sprint, Zari Young nailed her best finishes as a Cardinal and claimed first place with a time of 7.86, while her teammate Samantha Munson secured fifth place finish with a time of 8.26. The women's 4x200 team, featuring Gin, Munson, Melissa Torres, and Zari Young, finished in third place.
 

The team heads to a familiar place next weekend back at St. Olaf on Friday and Saturday. A few Cardinals will head to UW-La Crosse to compete in the Pat Healy Classic on Saturday.
