Cardinal Track & Field is Ready for MIAC Indoor Championships: Know Before You Go

2/26/2026 10:00:00 AM

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Saint Mary's track and field team is set to compete at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships meet held Thursday-Saturday at the Carleton College Recreation Center in Northfield.

Last year, the Cardinals had themselves a nice outing as the men's compiled results earned them a total of 11 points and an 11th place finish. The women's team came together to compile a total of 32.5 points to finish eighth which was the women's highest place in the indoor MIAC Conference Championship since 2007 and their highest placement in 18 years!

They are looking to replicate if not improve on these scores this weekend.

The meet is scheduled as follows:

Thursday, Feb. 26 — 2:00 p.m. (pentathlon) / 2:20 p.m. (heptathlon – day 1)

Friday, Feb. 27 — 10:00 a.m. (heptathlon – day 2) / 4:00 p.m. (field events) / 4:30 p.m. (track events)

Saturday, Feb. 28 — 11:45 a.m. (field events) / 1:00 p.m. (track events)

Athletes to Watch

We have had six school records broken this indoor season, less than a week ago was the most recent ones.

Ryan Cramer, sophomore sprinter, will match up and look to compete this weekend after he set a program record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.88 at the Maverick Indoor Open on 2/20. Cramer ran a 7.01 in prelims.

Zari Young, sophomore sprinter, is the defending conference champ in the 60-meter dash and looking to go back-to-back. She was the only first place finish at the championships last year.

Samantha Munson, senior sprinter, topped her previous school record set this year with a 25.69 mark in the 200m on 2/13 at the SDSU Indoor Classic.

Mya Slavin, sophomore distance runner, broke two records this season, one in the 3000m, set in 2005, with a 10:20.58 mark and most recently broke the 1000m time with a time of 2:58.84.

The women's 4x200m relay with Munson, Melissa Torres, Jossy Saamanen, and Young took down last year's record with a 1:46.01 mark at the St. Olaf Multi & Invitational.
