Saint Mary’s Powers to 7–2 Road Victory Against Hamline

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Saint Mary's men's hockey team (4-1-1, 2-0) put together one of its most complete performances of the season on Saturday, night, powering past Hamline (0-4, 0-2) 7–2 in a dominant MIAC road win for the conference sweep.

The Cardinals wasted no time taking control, erupting for four first-period goals and never looking back.

Saint Mary's tacked on two more in the second and one in the third, while the defense kept Hamline in check despite facing 29 shots.

Jack Campion led the charge with a three-point night, scoring twice and adding an assist while going 12-for-20 on faceoffs. Between the pipes, Adam Prokop stood tall with 27 saves.

Saint Mary's set the tone early in the opening frame. Campion broke the ice at 12:49 off feeds from Joona Juntunen and Carter Newpower. Just over a minute later, Tyler Lafferty buried one at 13:39, assisted by Colin Tushie, to double the lead.

Campion struck again at 16:08, his second of the night and the eventual game-winner, with Newpower and Juntunen again providing helpers. Hicks capped the explosive period with an unassisted tally at 17:21, sending the Cardinals into the first intermission up 4–0.

The Cardinals kept rolling in the second. Ryan Berglund pushed the lead to 5–0 at 18:27, with Tushie earning his second assist of the night. Hamline finally broke through with a goal at 5:59, but Saint Mary's answered quickly as Adler Johnston scored at 5:16, his first career goal, set up by Blake Green and Luc Cernohous, restoring the Cardinals five-goal cushion at 6–1 heading into the third.

Newpower added one more insurance marker at 7:09 of the final period, finishing a play created by Juntunen and Campion. Hamline added a late goal, but the Cardinals' defense that was anchored by strong minutes from Adam Prokop shut the door the rest of the way, sealing a convincing 7–2 victory.

The Cardinals will celebrate this big win and weekend before their next game at MSOE on Tuesday, November 25 at 7:00 p.m.
