ST. PAUL, Minn. — They bounced back! The Saint Mary's women's hockey team (2-4-0, 1-2-0) put together a complete team effort on Friday night, skating to a 4–2 road win over St. Catherine (5-2-0, 2-1-0) for the first conference win. 

The Cardinals set the tone early with a strong first period, generating pressure and taking advantage of their chances. Teagan Phillips opened the scoring at 13:28 off a setup from Celia Midtbo, and less than two minutes later, Maggie Albers buried another to make it 2–0, assisted by Taverie Sherner. 

St. Catherine cut the lead late in the frame, but Saint Mary's carried a 2–1 edge into intermission.

The Wildcats pulled even early in the second, but the Cardinals responded quickly—and decisively. Reese Heitzman reclaimed the lead with a power-play strike at 2:40, with Albers picking up the assist. The goal stood as the eventual game-winner, and Saint Mary's took a 3–2 advantage into the final period.

In the third, the Cardinals tightened up defensively and added insurance when Keeley Callander buried a key goal at 15:27, assisted by Heitzman and Leah Parker. From there, Saint Mary's locked down the win, killing off penalties and limiting St. Catherine's looks as goaltender Magali Fillion stood tall with 22 saves.

Albers and Heitzman paced the offense, while Phillips added a goal and dominated the faceoff circle with 11 wins. 

The Cardinals look to get the conference sweep, hosting the WIldcats at the SMU Ice Arena for a 3:00 p.m. puck drop tomorrow.
