DAVENPORT, Florida - After three consecutive days of baseball games, the Saint Mary's baseball squad (1-3) was worn out and suffered a 13-3 loss to Wartburg (3-2) on Tuesday. The Cardinals kept the game close until the final innings.

Tyson Allen pitched five innings, striking out five batters while allowing four hits and three earned runs.Â

The Cardinals took an early lead to start the game when
Alex Hanneman doubled and later scored on a passed ball, putting the team up 1-0. Wartburg responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-1 lead.

In the fourth inning, Saint Mary's tied the game at 2-2.
Brinton Anderson singled and scored on
Will Boeckman's RBI single. The Knights were held scoreless in their half of the inning, keeping the game close.

During the seventh inning, the Cardinals managed to add another run when
Daniel Sherman walked, advanced on a balk, and scored on
Maddox Cejka's RBI single. The Knights, however, increased their lead to 8-3..

The Knights extended their advantage with a five-run inning in the final innings making the final score 13-3 in favor of Wartburg.

Saint Mary's managed seven hits and three runs across eight innings, while Wartburg tallied 14 hits and 13 runs.

The Cardinals are taking a break from baseball tomorrow to regroup for the first time this trip and will return to action on Thursday, facing Concordia Chicago at 9:45 a.m. EST.
