ORLANDO, Florida - In their second dual of Florida action, the Saint Mary's men's tennis team (7-7) broke a four-match losing streak with a 5-2 victory over Albion (4-5) on Wednesday.
Â
The Cardinals overcame adversity to secure the win after nearly a six-hour rain delay and several closely contested matchups, including losing the doubles point, dropping each of their doubles sets to start.
Â
Evan Huemoeller and
Tucker Stene helped get the team back on track with dominant victories, allowing just two games each in their sets to get two points.
Â
Gavin Pratt kept his set competitive but secured the win without ever trailing, finishing 6-3, 6-4.
Â
In a crucial No. 4 singles matchup,
Philip Apel battled through extra games to secure the win, 1-6, 6-1, 11-9.
Â
The Cardinals are back in action for their final dual in Florida tomorrow, at 7:30 a.m. EST to take on Rose-Hulman.
