WINONA, Minn. – After three months off, the Saint Mary's women's tennis team (2-0) jumped back into action on Saturday, hosting and sweeping Martin Luther College (0-1) 7-0 at the Winona Tennis Center.
It was the perfect start to the season.
To get the matches underway, the Cardinal doubles struck big when all three matches were held under three sets each.Â
The Cardinals dominated singles play to secure the team victory, sweeping all six matches.
At No. 1 singles, Elena Ruzevich set the tone with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 win. Emily Dondelinger followed at No. 2, cruising to a 6-3, 6-0 victory, while Taylor DePover kept the momentum going at No. 3 with a decisive 6-2, 6-1 result.
The Cardinals continued to roll in the lower half of the lineup. Olivia Molumby earned a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles, Harsha Gangasani picked up a solid 6-3, 6-2 decision at No. 5, and Kathryn Stiegel closed out the sweep with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
Across-the-board, Saint Mary's had sealed a convincing team win to open their 2026 campaign. The Cardinals will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 30 hosting Concordia Wisconsin for a 6:00 p.m. match.
