ST. PAUL, Minn. – In the solo game of the week, the Saint Mary's women's soccer team (4-8-1, 2-4-0) dropped a 1-0 shutout at St. Catherine (8-3-1, 4-1-1) on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats didn't break the shutout until the final seven minutes, when they knocked out the Cardinals to send them home.
The teams played it even in the opening frame. Despite the Wildcats earning nine shots to the Cardinals' two, the Cardinals' defense was the difference. Lauren Fields had the team's best look in the 25th minute with a shot low to the left, but couldn't convert.Â
The Cardinals held the Wildcats scoreless after almost 35 minutes of action and 13 shots.
It wasn't until the 83rd minute that the Wildcats scored on a through ball.
Looking Ahead
The Cardinals will be back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Gustavus Adolphus for a 4:00 p.m. matchup.Â
