SAINT PETER, Minn. — The Saint Mary's women's soccer team (4-9-1, 2-5-0) fell to the Gustavus Adolphus Gusties (3-7-2, 2-4-1) on Wednesday afternoon, 2-0.
An early penalty kick for the Gusties put them ahead 1-0 in the 28th minute.
Despite the Cardinals outplaying the Gusties in the second half, outshooting the Gusties 5-2, the Cardinals were unable to convert any shots into goals. Kaylen Pray had the Cardinals' two best looks on goal late in the second half.
Hannah Beix and Lydia Hawkins each had one of their own; the defense was just too strong for the Cardinals.
The Gusties extended their lead early in the second half off of a corner kick.
Looking Ahead
The Cardinals will host Carleton College on Saturday, Oct. 17, for a 1:00 p.m. conference matchup.
