Members of the Cross Country Teams Begin their Race in Northfield
NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's and women's cross country teams competed Saturday at the Running of the Cows meet, hosted by Carleton College, in Northfield. The meet doubled as a Pre-Nationals race for teams eyeing the NCAA Division III Championships.
Mya Slavin led the women's team with a standout performance in the Navy Championship 6000 meters, placing 125th in 23:09.5.
In the Maize division, Kaylie Betts paced the Cardinals with a 25:59.5. Addison Burckhardt followed at 26:10.9, while Izzy Dewey crossed in 28:00.8 and Lizzy Scheid rounded out the Saint Mary's contingent in 30:40.6.
Yong Achuoth led the men's squad in the Maize 8000 meters, finishing 86th in a personal-best time of 27:49.2. Blake Tembruell placed 28th in 28:57.7, with Sam Grywacz close behind at 29:18.2. Thomas Halverson posted a showing in 29:53.3, and Liam Smith crossed just after in 29:55.0 August Koessler rounded out the finishers in at 32:34.5.
Looking Ahead
The Cardinals return to action next Saturday, Oct. 17, traveling to Illinois to compete in the final race before the conference championships.Â
