FORT SNELLING, Minn. – The Saint Mary's cross country programs got the weekend started in the rain. The Cardinals raced in yet another highly competitive meet, the UofM Roy Griak Invitational, held by the University of Minnesota, Friday Morning.

The women ran first in the Women's Suzy Wilson 6k, where two Cardinals recorded personal bests. Addison Burckhardt and Susan Bergeman each ran their best times, 24:27.70 and 25:48.90, respectively.  

Mya Slavin ran 21:58.50, placing her in the top 100 runners in the competition. 

Seconds behind Bergeman were Kaylie Betts (25:52.80) and Izzy Dewey (26:05.60).

In the Men's Jo Rider 8k, Isaiah Fitzgerald ran a personal best and also placed among the top 100 runners in the field. He ran an impressive 26:03.60 time.

The four freshmen, Mathew Misko (27:32.80), Blake Tembruell (27:41.60), Thomas Halverson (28:03.90), and Yong Achuoth (28.04.00), all finished within a few runners of each other. 

Liam Smith ran a personal best of 28:15.00 to round out the Cardinals. 

Looking Ahead

Up next for the Cardinals is the Pre-National Invitational, hosted by Carleton College, on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. The Cardinals will compete in Northfield three times this season.
