NORTHFIELD, Minn. — Saint Mary's closed out the St. Olaf Invitational & Multi with record-breaking speed and standout performances across the board.
The highlight of the meet came from the women's 4x200m relay team of Samantha Munson, Melissa Torres, Jossy Saamanen, and Zari Young who shattered the school record with a blazing 1:46.01, earning a second-place finish.
Munson and Young stole the show in the women's 60m, finishing first and second. Munson clocked a personal-best 7.90, while Young posted a season-best 7.83. On the men's side, freshman Gage Hatch delivered a strong performance in the 60m, placing second with a personal-best 7.15.
Deni Zaharieva picked up her first career win in the women's 400m, crossing the line in 1:02.29, while Rylee O'Konek continued her impressive form with a second-place finish in the 60m hurdles, setting a new personal best, 9.59.
In the field events, Xara Gin turned in a big day with a second-place finish in the high jump (4-11) and a third-place mark in the pole vault (10-10). Freshman Ron White added a personal best in the weight throw, placing eighth with a toss of 42-08.23. Ameryn Dostal finished sixth in the long jump (32-11), and Izzie Schei earned seventh in the weight throw (13.29).
The men's 4x200m relay — Jinwoo Jung, Curtis Schupp, Jackson Williams, and Gage Hatch — recorded a 1:39.47, good for fifth place.
Overall, it was a huge meet for Saint Mary's, with the team posting 12 personal or season bests across events.
The Cardinals return to action Saturday, Feb. 7, at the UWRF Winter Classic in River Falls, Wisconsin.
