MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Under the lights, the Saint Mary's women's tennis dropped a 7-0 MIAC decision to St. Catherine Friday evening at the Baseline Tennis Center.
The Cardinals (5-5, 0-5 MIAC) showed early promise in doubles play, highlighted by a strong performance at No. 1 where the duo of Emily Dondelinger and Elena Ruzevich earned a 6-3 win. Despite the early momentum, the Wildcats claimed the remaining two doubles matches to secure the team point.
In singles action, Saint Mary's battled throughout the lineup but was unable to break through. Ruzevich pushed a competitive match at No. 1 singles, while Kathryn Stiegel delivered the Cardinals' most extended contest of the day at No. 6, forcing a third-set tiebreak before falling in a hard-fought decision.
The Wildcats ultimately swept all six singles matches to seal the conference victory.
Saint Mary's will look to regroup as it continues MIAC play in its next outing back at home against No.18 Gustavus Adolphus on Sunday, Mar. 29 at 1:30 p.m.
The Cardinals have not been home since Feb. 27.
