GREENWOOD, Ind. – Gavan Schulte, Eric Stomberg, and Ryan Csida of the Saint Mary's University baseball team were recognized as College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honorees, the organization announced Tuesday.

Student athletes selected must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, be a sophomore and compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.

Each of the three Cardinals are earning their first CSC Academic All-District honors of their careers.

Schulte, the senior from Sartell, Minn., was the team's standout left fielder. He recorded a career best .313 batting average in his 144 at bats over the course of 41 games this season. The business intelligence and analytics major stole 14 bases this season, leading the team, and earned his first All-Conference honors this season.

Another senior, Stomberg, picked up the prestigious academic honor. The St. Paul, Minn., native pitched over 39 innings this season, earning three wins in 11 games started. Stomberg struck out 29 batters and limited his opponents to a .290 batting average.

Csida was a stellar centerfielder who played in 41 games this season and recorded a team best .549 slugging percentage in his 142 at bats. The biology and pre-physical therapy major batted in 29 Cardinals in and led the team in doubles (12), triples (4), and home runs (7) as he was a major threat at the plate.

These three helped lead the cardinals back to the MIAC playoff tournament for the first time since the 2024 season and took down the No.1 seed Bethel Royals in extra innings to extend their season. The team ended with a 25-17 overall record and went 12-8 in conference.
