DUBUQUE, Iowa – Two early goals by Loras (2-0) rattled the Saint Mary's men's soccer team (0-2-1) on Thursday afternoon.
Out of the gate, the Duhawks found the back of the net just over six minutes into the first frame and took a 1-0 lead. The Cardinals looked to shake their memory, but it was not quick enough before falling behind 2-0 just minutes later.
The Cardinals were on their heels most of the first half as the Duhawks applied pressure with nine shots compared to the Cardinals' one.
The teams played to an even second half, as the Cardinals' defense picked up. They battled to two shots in the second half against a physically strong Duhawks team.
Diego Giles had the lone shot on goal early in the second half.
Ryan Horlock made six saves for the Cardinals and was a crucial piece in limiting the Duhawks in the second half.

The Cardinals will head right back to Dubuque, this time facing the University of Dubuque on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 1:00 p.m. for their next matchup.
