MANKATO, Minn. – Match one was won. The Saint Mary's women's tennis team (1-0) returned to action Saturday afternoon, opening the 2026-27 season with a huge road win over Bethany Lutheran (0-1), 6-1.Â
The Cardinals took the opening point in doubles as Emily Dondelinger and Elena Ruzevich took down their Vikings opponent in a tiebreak, 7-6.Â
The Harsha Gangasani and Olivia Molumby dou and Maddie Jensen and Taylor DePover earned their first doubles win.
Dondelinger, DePover, and Gangasani each played to battles for their first singles wins of the season. Jensen and Olivia Molumby each got a break as the Vikings could not get enough healthy bodies to compete.Â
Looking Ahead
The Cardinals are looking to end the opening weekend on a high note. The team will host Macalester College tomorrow, Sept. 13, at 2:30 p.m. at the Winona Tennis Center to open conference play.Â
